“We live in the flicker -- may it last as long as the old earth keeps rolling! But darkness was here yesterday.” “Going up that river was like travelling back to the earliest beginnings of the world, when vegetation rioted on the earth and the big trees were kings. An empty stream, a great silence, an impenetrable forest. The air was warm, thick, heavy, sluggish. There was no joy in the brilliance of sunshine. The long stretches of the waterway ran on, deserted, into the gloom of overshadowed distances. ― Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness "...picture yourself planting radishes and seed potatoes on the fifteenth green of a forgotten golf course. You'll hunt elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center, and dig clams next to the skeleton of the Space Needle leaning at a forty-five degree angle. We'll paint the skyscrapers with huge totem faces and goblin tikis, and every evening what's left of mankind will retreat to empty zoos and lock itself in cages as protection against the bears and big cats and wolves that pace and watch us from outside the cage bars at night." ~Chuck Palahniuk "...I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables – slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off..." Mankind's effect on nature has always been a main focus in my life. The world’s wilderness astounds me with its capability to adapt and thrive. In the world I see, mankind only holds the lease to earth. My goal is to show new perspectives in the familiar, and to remind the viewer of what must not be lost. Apr 20th, 2011I am from Greece and photography is the way to express my feelings. I like to capture moments that look not ordinary. Long exposures, infrared photography. I hope you like my way.. Anyway i believe that looking the world through a filter could be a reason of re-evaluation.. I use a Canon EOS 7D, a fantastic camera body and various lenses like the sigma 10-20 mm, canon 17-40 mm, the zoom canon 18-200mm. I also have a Fujifilm IS Pro, a fantastic Infrared dedicated camera and as you can understand i spend much time also in infrared photography using different filters from the classical R72 Hoya to more color IR filters (680 nm). Apr 15th, 2011Tim Dickinson is an artist that produces highly emotive and thoughtful images that explore the darker side of human emotion and the human condition. “Although all of my work has a very personal meaning and message I try produce images that grasp the essence of that feeling in the simplest most minimal way I can, cutting away all that is not needed and leaving the raw emotion and room for anyone and everyone to relate to the image. My aim is for the viewer to have a personal dialogue with the image and to allow the viewer to explore the ideas, meaning and emotions behind the work. I love to hear what other people take from the work and how very personal and varied this can be.”
Apr 12th, 2011I am a mystery not revealed, bathed by metal and gothic culture, since for a long time. The drawing, the painting and the writing allow me to release my feelings and my anger after a dark year in 2006. In 2009, I create an illustrated gothic tale, a dark, poetic and tortured love story, where get involved the images, the words and the sound. This tale will be edited in the Publishing Editions of Riez and will be available in january 2011. Also, I participate in a book which is going to bring out soon on the theme of the strangeness and some chaos, in which he wrote two short stories on vampires .This book will be presented in Paris during evening. I devote my time now, for the photography , these photos of which reveal a little more my secret universe. The photo is for me a sensation, an emotion, a feeling, a story, an experience, a suggestion, a small bit of oneself , a small bit of nothing. A fusion between the photographer, his camera and its vision who, as a perfect alchemy, transport us between feelings and dreams. To be continued... Bloody countess
