Sometimes it's not just on your end, it could be the amount of seeds and the other users' connection.
Jun 24th, 2007exactly what he said. if you find a result with more 'swarm' rates than the others.. download that.
Jun 24th, 2007Yeah, I agree with what they said below me.
Also I read a tip that if you have firewall you can add additional ports. Torrent ports start off at 6881 to 6999. So add ports in the exceptional tab if you have windows xp service pack 2 or any firewall program. For me, it has speed up. But it may let intruders in.
meng uses mac. =]
Jul 11th, 2007If you're using a mac,use azureus. Nothing beats it. Once you have it, you can either install ready-mods or tweak it manually. I prefer the latter since you have full control over what you want. Basically there are a few things you might want to try to improve your speed, but I'll just keep it brief. Also, experiment with your client.
i) Change ports till you find one that works decently for you (there are lists on the web you can find that show available/used/blacklisted ports)
ii) Setup port ranging/forwarding
iii) Do a speed test of your internet connection. Use the information derived to help you adjust your upload speed, which in turn affects your download speed. Setting 80% of the test result magnitude is recommended.
NOTE: Be aware of the different terms used (kbps,kBps etc.)
iv) Increase TCP Connection cap (don't overdo it,just increase by a bit)
v) Firewalls kill. Shut it. But note that it opens risks to your computer, yes its a reality even for macs (the horror!), so do it at own risk.
Well thats all I can recall. If there are any questions, shoot (:
i've always had trouble with getting maximum speed with my torrents -- 90% of the time it gets 0. what can increase the speed?
Jun 24th, 2007good thing i use xtorrent now, otherwise i'd never download through torrents.
