a poem i wrote a year or so ago - it is still one of my favorites, written to the darkest muse there is: fear. i tried to make it more visually attenuated to the words. i think i may have failed.

This is some poem, Shane, and all the ocular imagery is fascinating. I loved the implacable blue-rimmed void on the right--so expressionless and so --hollowed out. I puzzled over the mottled red text, but perhaps that's the way things look to a creature when its tapetum has been breached and is daily leaking. "If looks could kill," we sometimes say, and you seem to have conceived of orbs that, though rare, could be just that deadly. (I love that poems can be made to look as they do in our minds on this wonderful site, don't you?)
