Jun 12thLowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.

Mar 6th, 2011I am Abdul Mukmin Sulung "AMS" Pekanbaru—19 years of age. I am fond of designing and creating cartoons. My tools are digital arts like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I edit and manipulate all kinds of photos, but my forte is in making Digital Art. As no one but a simple person, I have to satisfy myself with inspiration and true grit and I do it through searching random artworks and try to apply them on my own. I’d like to be a professional graphic artist someday. I aspire for class and perfection. I want to earn money and establish my own business in the future. With less effort, yet more patience, I could have fun, learn more about my passion, and fore then, lead on to the Easy Street of success. Less AN ESSENTIAL OF CREATIVITY IS NOT BEING AFRAID TO FAIL, KEEP IN IMAGINATIONS ON YOUR HEART . . .

Sep 7thMike Kilgore has been creating art by hand for over 20 years, and digitally for over 10. Self taught through practice, trial and error, bookshelves and hard drives full of reference material (and an unnatural love of children's cartoons), his credits include Mike Baron's "The Architect", and Digital Webbing Presents' "Demon's Regret". Now he begins on the path of free market entrepreneurship, financial freedom and creator controlled media domination.
