Sep 28th, 2011Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.

I enjoy doing collaborative composistions bringing Portrait style artwork onto the desktop as it helps me learn more about creating my own & helps learn new skills. I am pretty much self taught. I always ask for permissions & always give credit. And yes I do do my own stuff, but I really like to help spread exposure to others artwork & meet new artists. So when viewing some of my work always remember if there is another artist involved to remember them when commenting. They are our inspiration to do more & better!

Oct 3rdI'm a self taught illustrator from the Philippines. My artworks usually focus on women with very long hair surrounded by flowers and vines. Other artworks depend on what I feel or what I have experienced. I do traditional and digital illustrations. I usually listen to music while I draw something because for me it helps a lot when I'm making details to my drawings. My dream is to become a childrens book illustrator. As of today, I'm still trying to find and learn more techniques in drawing to improve my illustrations. =) You can also find me here: Tumblr: http://nikkiradan.tumblr.com/ Behance: http://www.behance.net/nikkiradan

Feb 25th, 2012Welcome to my Shadowness profile! First thing you should know is I will fav and run! I don't always have a comment -- but by fav'ing your work, I'm clearly stating that I love it. :D Secondly, Yes I did consider putting a bunch of gobbledygook here about who I am, what my inspirations are, my mediums, my shows and my awards -- Wouldn't it just be easier and less irritating to visit my website instead? I've got a lot more work there, plenty of information about me and mine, as well as information about how you can own some. :)
Sep 25th, 2011My name is Rick Corbett. I am a graphite and colored pencil portrait artist. I am a self-taught artist. I am also a member of the Woburn Guild of Artists. I am inspired not only by other artists but from life itself. I am inspired by people, textures, smells, sounds, all my senses seem to come alive when I draw. My drawings take me on an artistic journey of self discovery. I feel my soul awaken when I draw. GOD has given me a gift and it's a gift I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's a gift I hope to use to capture the beauty that's in this World. I don't want my drawings to simply be pictures drawn on pieces of paper - I want my drawings to be a celebration of life. My portraits are like my children. I created them and I'm proud of them. I hope to change the way people "see" each other. Everyone is special in their own special way. People trul inspire me. I love to learn about people, I love to learn backgrounds, traditions, and cultures. I think this is why I became a portrait artist, it just seemed natural to me. I believe that every person is beautiful and I hope to bring out that beauty in each portrait I draw. I hope to bring out the person's soul. I thank GOD everyday for the gift HE has given me. It's a gift that I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's one I hope to bring everyone's inner beauty out. It's one that I hope to make us all learn something about ourselves. It's a gift I hope that will bring a smile to someone's face or bring joy in someone's life.
Mar 13th, 2012My name is Damien Torres, I'm an aspiring comic artist who dreams on working for either Marvel or DC Comics one day. While the career I pursue focuses on comic-styled art, that's not all I do. I love challenging myself with realistic drawings, and I'm open to new styles. I hope those who follow enjoy my work.
