Technically this is too light a shot. The blue sky is barely blue but more white, and your ground in washed out in white in most places. Using either a shorter shutterspeed or more dof would have helped this situation.
I don't know in what setting you used your camera (manual or automatic or any of the other settings) but this is a situation where your camera will usually guide you wrong. The camera uses calculation to find the average lighting situation.. here you have a harsh shadow and a very bright sunlighted part.. the average is bad for both the shadow-part (as there will be no details since it's just to dark a shot) and the bright areas will have no detail because it's too lihjt a shot. You have to decide which part you want detail in (and here i'd guess the bright part) so you need to darken your shot. I hope this explains somewhat what i tried to tell you in that first sentence.
leiko this photo reminds me of the movie, what dreams may come, because of the brightly colored trees, and the splatter over the bricks ^_^ where is it?
