Is the island a reserve or simply left to its own devices? Looks like it would be an amazing place to spend and evening, especially if you wanted the peace and calm to clear the mind.

It's a reserve, but really in Tassie that just means that it's left alone! When the tide is right out you can walk across to the island, so you can certainly spend time there - as long as you remember to leave before the tide comes in again. :)
