You can bid here until 23/2: Ink, graphite pencils and watercolors. Size: approx. 10x13 cm, with frame: 13x18 cm. For this month's theme I was inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet’s forbidden love. How Juliet planned to take a potion that would put her into a deathlike coma, to later be reunited with her Romeo when she awakened. But as we know, it didn't go as she had planned… Thu, 19 Feb 2015 07:43:59 -0500 Withering hope
Ink & graphite pencils. Art is my therapy, that's what I always say. This is what came out this time and I can see now what emotion that inspired me, the feeling of hopelessness. Actually I can see that emotion in many different parts of my life right now, so no wonder that's what came out. I was inspired to make some kind of forest spirit that makes everything so pretty with frost during the winter time (although I think the frost shows better in real life). This has many different point of views for me. The background is that I wanted to express the relation I have to my body as a woman and cuntcarrier; I like my body, but at the same time I am insecure about it. Because all the time we are fed by the media and society a norm of how we should look like. And that grows a shame around our bodies, especially I think as a non-male. There's so much taboo around the pussy, that still lives on. Which makes me more ashamed of my body instead of appreciating it for what it is. So for this image I wanted to lift up the importance of looking at your own body, see it for what it is and not through someone else's eyes. Appreciate it, listen to it and get to know it. That's what the title means to me, but I couldn't find a very good translation. Done for “Fittkonst 2014 STHLM” exhibition in Stockholm. The exhibition which contains of 20 artists work with different techniques and backgrounds, joined together with one theme “The cunt”. With this exhibition we want to normalize the pussy, because even though half of our human population has got one, it still is a topic surrounded by taboos. Just like a poisonous flower, it's beautiful and sweet but could kill you in the next second." This is the 3rd portrait in the series of poisonous flowers, and it might be my favorite one so far. My thought behind this portrait series was to show a metaphor for love, how it weights between being the most wonderful thing in the world and of being the most painful thing. The line is fine, and sometimes it can feel like you love someone so much, that the love itself could poison you, maybe even to death. It started out as one idea for a portrait together with the poem you see above, but before I had even finished it, I thought it would be nice to make more portraits with the same concept. And this is very unlike me, since I have never been able to do more than two works in a series before. But this concept seems to have occupied my mind completely. I've also done two drawings with ink and pencils 'Moonseed' & 'Aminita virosa' that follows the same theme with poisonous plants. My wish is to one day show them all together (and more) as one whole exhibition. Ink & watercolor painting. First portrait in the series: Second portrait: Tue, 15 Jul 2014 02:36:16 -0400 Moonseed
Ink, pen & graphite pencils, 2014 "Moonseed (Menispermaceae Menispermum), it grows in woods and hedges and produces clusters of small fruits, known as drupes, which resemble grapes. All parts of these plants are known to be poisonous. The toxin is alkaloid dauricine. The drupes have led to paralysis and death when eaten."
