Just like a poisonous flower, it's beautiful and sweet but could kill you in the next second." This is the 3rd portrait in the series of poisonous flowers, and it might be my favorite one so far. My thought behind this portrait series was to show a metaphor for love, how it weights between being the most wonderful thing in the world and of being the most painful thing. The line is fine, and sometimes it can feel like you love someone so much, that the love itself could poison you, maybe even to death. It started out as one idea for a portrait together with the poem you see above, but before I had even finished it, I thought it would be nice to make more portraits with the same concept. And this is very unlike me, since I have never been able to do more than two works in a series before. But this concept seems to have occupied my mind completely. I've also done two drawings with ink and pencils 'Moonseed' & 'Aminita virosa' that follows the same theme with poisonous plants. My wish is to one day show them all together (and more) as one whole exhibition. Ink & watercolor painting. All parts of these plants are known to be poisonous. The toxin is alkaloid dauricine. The drupes have led to paralysis and death when eaten." I don't think I have ever finished a portrait this fast, I started it this morning, soon after I had gone up. Then I painted until lunch, so maybe not much more than 3 hours... I say it again I have never painted a portrait this fast, and still feel pretty good about it, that is. And no, I did not save on the ink! Done with black ink & a bit of red. Then they started to sing to me in my head, whispering for my help." This came to me in a dream, I'm not sure what it was that they wanted from me. They were staring at me with their blank haunting eyes, but still it did not frighten me as much as it should have. Then I could hear them singing a beautiful song in my head asking for my help. Done with ink & graphite pencils. Thu, 31 Oct 2013 13:19:44 -0400
