Black Nights

This one was created for a school assignment this past semester. The assignment was to take someone else's pre-conceived Design ethos (mine was the moon-water-cave) and throw in an animal.

I took one student's idea of an alien planet that was filled with spikes and monsters. The monsters are blended perfectly with the spikes/scenery and can sense motion. Once the sun/moon (I think the moon supposedly acts like a sun, and gives the planet light blah blah blah), it's pitch black and basically if you're outside during this time without a light, you're screwed.

I snagged the snake and added spikes to its back. It sleeps during the day and is totally awake at night, hunting down those unlucky enough to be out. Not only can these evolved snakes sense motion, but they can also sense heat to, so now the inhabitants are double screwed. :)

the glow of the eyes works well with the cold surrounding colours, and I like the way the dragons look like they're made of the same substance as the cave, great job.

oh, so this is where that other picture (the mouth of the dragon about to eat) came from. i think it looks better as a complete picture. there is more balance between light and shadow, and it is a little more obvious what is going on. nice ocmposition
