by richholt in Journal

First of all, sorry about bad quality pic, was off my phone.

Got these monitors free this morning, not an amazing spec but just as good as my previous one. Will do til I save up for my Apple gear ;)

Anyways, theyre HP L1706's.

Free due to some funky contacts ;)

"due to some funky contacts"... Reminds me how i got my laptop. hehe.
I don't know if you where already on dual screen, but you will love that. I have two 19" lcd since like, well... i think it's two years, and i can't work on a single screen now.

I didnt have dual screen before but I use dual screen at work and I used to hate coming home to a single screen. So useful.

But I need to get another pci-e gfx card before I can get the 2nd one working! RAWRR. I nicked an agp card from work but realised I dont have an agp slot!

OK, cinema displays are good looking, but :
      1- They are pricey.
2- They are not as good as some Samsung or Dell monitors. And that's a fact : there is a lot of models with better color rendering. And as graphists that should matter to you.
No, no, I'm not saying that because I can't afford one, trust me I can. Actually I'm really sad that apple aren't upgrading their monitors specs...

thanks for the tip. Before I go into buying a screen i'll deffo research a lot into it. I think the apple cinema actually uses same screen technology inside as Dell doesnt it?

But I wouldnt mind a lil less high spec for the sexyness.

don't make me laugh. dell has the worst screens i've ever seen. samsung is decent.

exactly, as a graphic designer and actually owning 2 dell screens, 1 sony, having worked with 2 LG, i've worked with samsung etc too AND actually owning an apple cinema, i can tell you that apple has everything you can ever dream of. yes, it's pricey, but it's totally worth it. now, i hate my dell crap and just want to throw them away.

btw, i don't even set my apple cinema to full brigthness, and that's never happened to me on a monitor.

In 2005 Apple 20" Cinema display was sharing the same panel (LG.Philips) as one of Dell monitors from what I remember. That could probably be the case nowadays because LG.Philips is selling the almost 60-70% of the panels. What matters is how the manufacturer is implanting electronically these panels.

I think not so far ago, Apple had the best displays, but they have been beat up by the last Dell 24" (from 2007) that I'm talking about on Meng's entry in the Apple group.
