Hello I'm Newman, I live in Oregon, I have been a freelance tee shirt designer for four years now. I have a BFA in Fine Art from the University of Hawaii where I studied Polynesian art history. I love travel, and culture, and cheesecakes. I would like to thank the mods, staff, and most of all the members for making shadowness what it is. You make this a great community. Tools: Tools: My 27in iMac, Wacom Cintiq 12WX, A drawer full of assorted pens, and markers. My favorite Series 22. Pure Kolinsky Designer. Size: 3 inking brush, Adobe Illustrator cs5, and Photoshop. My newest toy is the Cinemin Swivel pico projector I have been using for photo enlargement to make some larger scale work. I have a long list of items I drool over and hope to add to the list soon. Apr 15thI live in a small country of Central America, most of what I currently make is a product of personal experiences and of what I have learned and thought in my contact with the internet. I do not believe that what I make is art, because it is not, and I am clear in that it does not pretend to be art, I am just another one of the bytes navigating the web, carrying a tiny message for whom might be in the other side of any monitor… Much of my work begins with subjects related with death, with the strange, the sick, the pathological, the withdrawn from the common. It appeals to the beauty that is within what strays from the mainstream taste, to the enjoyment of the morbid and the decadent, not because of a superficially provoking attitude, but because of the conviction that beauty does not have a fixed nor defined parameter, with every project being an attempt of making the reflection and direct contemplation of the human decadence sublime. I play with the duality, with the metaphor, the beauty of what is “ugly”
Apr 14thI'm from Seattle...
Jan 17th, 2008My name's Lauren; I'm a freelance illustrator working primarily as a digital painter. My work is best described as surreal fantasy, I think: I'm fascinated with the strange, the macabre, and the beautiful. I haven't been on Shadowness in a long time but I hope to be more active. :) Please be patient while I upload several years' worth of new work and clean out my gallery.
