Barred Owl - Alert

I have been trying to capture this Barred Owl for a couple of weeks now and I have walked very close to him only to have him fly away. This time I was less than 8 ft away when I spotted him yet he stayed where he was. I had to back up and back up some more to get a shot and he allowed me to do this despite the noise and cracking branches without flying away.
