mixed media - paint with photo
first posted last June
Set to thinking of all the young girls who will be giving sisters away this summer at weddings....
Must be tough for them to watch them grow-up - feeling like it's happening too soon. Does that make sense?
We always think of parents - but not the kids left at home.
I saw this pic www.flickr.com/photos/andybullock77/3793390002/sizes/m/ (allowed to be modified - creative commons)
and that's what I thought of -- a girl having to see her best friend, her sister - getting married and leaving home.
I have a soon to be 18 year old engaged daughter - and also a 10 year old daughter... I can see the ten year old already worrying about it. :(
Anyway - this is dedicated to all the younger siblings of brothers and sisters getting married.
Peace,
Claudia

As a little brother I felt some of that when my older brother got married.

Interesting focal point-- the sister of the one getting married. Most certainly marriage is important to more than just those engaging in the act. Lovely mixed media. Her face is so clear, while the rest of the painting is like an oil. It really allows the audience to zoom right in to her face. Lovely mood and color.

Thank you so much - and for taking the time to get into the feeling behind it. That means a lot... truly.

What draws me to your work is that hand-made, traditional appeal. This is beautiful, drawn from deep sentiments.
