Shadowness - mynti I drew my first mural in crayon (unauthorized graffiti work in five rooms plus a hallway of our house) when I was 2. My mother left it up until we... en Amazon Fae Doodle
Just doodlin' again from memory. The first one that has turned out well in a while. (Memory doodlin' is hard!) This one, I looked at an old stock photo on my harddisk by *vishstudio which no longer seems to be available.. for about 20 minutes, and then immediately put pen to paper for an untimed few hours. (Probably around 3.) The problem with this one is that I was so focused on accuracy with the girl, I forgot the background. Ah well. No one is perfect! Ballpoint pen in my sketchbook. This is the finished doodle that came out of the hair tutorial I did for him. I am having trouble uploading it to shadowNESS so here is the link elsewhere: Wed, 13 Jul 2011 23:39:01 -0400 Durand Memory Doodle
This is a memory doodle of Asher Durand's "In the Woods". I looked at his work for 20 minutes, and painted for 4 hours. Liquitex Professional HB Acrylic on 5"x7" stretched canvas. Thanks for looking! I think I continue to improve in this medium and particular exercise, although the colors are way off here. Wed, 13 Jul 2011 16:13:15 -0400 Renewed
Details available here: Don't ask me what it means, draw your own conclusions. I will say, however, that the composition here is very symbolic; this pose has many triangles to represent 3 points of the birth and renewal cycle.. birth, transition, transcendence (and then begin again at birth), and that I was inspired by the phoenix while drawing. My photo this time for the reference. 27.5 hours, Corel Painter X, Photoshop CS2 & Tablet Wed, 13 Jul 2011 02:23:38 -0400 Kauterskill Doodle
I am trying memory doodles again. This time, I looked for 10 minutes at "Kauterskill Clove" by Sanford R. Gifford, and painted what I could from memory in an hour.. Here is the result. I find this challenges my color memory, my analyzation of shapes, and my sense of scale when I work this way... It's not easy, but it's great to hone the eye and brain to remember particular details! No presketching or gridding this time, I just went at the canvas with the paint, and here is the result. Tue, 28 Jun 2011 15:52:32 -0400 Great Hike Foliage Brushes
File Types: .abr, .zip, .jpg Program: Photoshop (Brushes files) File Size: 1.6 MB First made available: on deviantART Please credit with link to here or the deviantART mirror. You can use these in commercial work so long as they are credited properly this way. You cannot distribute these brushes as your own. People have asked me how I create foliage. Here is my secret to quick and effortless forests and leafy bits. I use many variations like these now in combination with unique scribbles, but these 8 were the start to my foliage brush collection. Each brush was painted in black and white in PS, then converted to a brush. Then I messed with the settings on the brushes to get what you see here. Note! Brushes use tilt, pressure and so forth. If you do not have a tablet, these will not work as pictured. You may use these brushes however you like in your art, just please credit the set if you use it. Thanks! To download .zip file with the .abr, click on the link above. For non CS3 users, download also includes 8 black and white jpg files, plus .jpgs with setting screencaps for each brush.
