I like it, but I have a feeling when you use this high key approach the key elements eyes, nose, and mouth have to be like a perfect high key illustration. Ask your daughter to help you by closing her mouth into a small smile, and ask her to think of something that makes her very happy like a puppy, kitty, pony, or ? You know your daughter. Just like acting in a movie the eyes will convey what she is feeling and thinking and make your high key photograph soar. I started photographing Laura (the young girl/woman in my oil paintings) and I always talked to her as we worked, and what the model is thinking makes a big difference in the photo.
You're welcome! I once told Laura she didn't take a bad picture. She told me that was true only with me. She showed me pictures others had taken to prove her point. She was right. I you make the picture a collaboration between you and your daughter you will find the photos amazing. Just a word from you, close your mouth sweety, Oh, now you look beautiful! Lower, your head, now open those big brown eyes, and think of flying. You get the idea. Make her feel good about herself, and talk in a soft voice, and when you see she is tired just go do something that is fun or a treat.
