Really!?!!!! Aw, YAY!!! I love color that's for sure!! Haha!! Still working on my own personal art/drawing style, but thanks so much, means a lot!! and it's very much appreciated!! :DDDDD
You're quite welcome! Definitely keep drawing--that's the best way to find your style! Don't be afraid to experiment (although, judging by your unique work, I don't think I need mention that)! I am 30 y/o and still honing my style! ;)
It takes a bit of time doesn't it, to find ones own groove and style. But yes, definitely you're right, I DO need to experiment and try other mediums. I just seriously don't know where or how to start haha. But thank you lots for the advice, I'll take it to heart!! Your art style is awesome by the way. Looking forward to seeing more!!
Many thanks!! I still feel like I am working through things as far as developing style ;) Perhaps it never ends? I worked in so many different media before I settled on colored pencils that couldn't get very good at anything working so sporadically--but I think I needed that time to "pick one!"
That's incredible that you have experimented and found what's best for you! And hey, if it works!! :DD I personally like color pencils and coloring on SAI with my tablet. I feel that them two mediums are best for me. At least for now. Cause coloring with markers...well I suck at it still haha. And yeah, I don't think one stops developing and growing, which is awesome too!! And it also gives us a goal. To keep developing and improving.
Well said! I just got a tablet too and I use GIMP (cos I am cheap...the tablet was a gift from my hubband)! I like to tinker--the undo button is amazing, as are layers! I feel like I could do pretty much anything which is liberating and daunting at the same time! I used to enjoy oil pastels and acrylic paints but everything I created in those media were frustratingly soft and lacking in detail. That is most likely an issue with the artist, not the materials, but I think the learning curve in CP is just easier for me to get around (or something...I am pretty lazy)! ;)
Oooooh, GIMP!!!! I used to color with that. I loved it so much too. Especially the 'creating your own patters' part. (But once I found SAI, I dropped GIMP, haha) Wow, I've never even tried coloring in oil pastels or acrylic. Tho can't really say it calls to me. But YES, the 'undo button' and them 'layers' are INCREDIBLE!! And I LOVE them to bits and pieces!! I have no clue what I would do with out them, like seriously!!! And....I'm lazy too!! Haha.
Perhaps we should refer to ourselves as "energy efficient?" Sounds better on a curriculum vitae, I think! So, I suppose I could google it but I would rather ask: whats SAI? I figured it was a graphics prog but...I am new to these things! And acrylics are pretty forgiving too...if you don't like something, just paint over it! XD I am a fan of realism though and I have better luck rendering form with CP! I do have a piece I was working on in GIMP however...once I finish it I will post and you can tell me whatcha think! ;)
LMAO, I think that would be best Energy Efficient haha. SAI is kind of like GIMP. It's a software that one uses to draw using your tablet and color. Plus me thinks other things too. I mainly use it to color and very rarely use it to practice some poses. But yeah, you can use layers and vector layers on SAI. It has pens and brushes. Like it's just like GIMP. Tho I like SAI better just cause it's easier for me and it takes less space on my compu!!
Ah....nope, it's not exactly free. Iiiiiiiii gots the software through someone on YouTube!! Haha. They were giving a tutorial on how to get the program for free. You just go on YouTube and type in how you can get the program for free and you'll find loads of videos giving tutorials on how to get it for free. It's not that hard, depending on whom is the one giving the tutorial!
Aww, I enjoy them too!! I haven't had a convo here with anyone really, only you. So it's been really fun!!!! And you're welcome. I hope -when you have time- that you'll be able to locate a video for the SAI software. SAI and GIMP both are awesome. (I did very much loved GIMP, but for my personal opinion I rather use SAI.)
Heh...my first real convo on here too--but I like this place much better than dA when it comes to making connections with other artists! to be honest, I learned to paint on the computer back when Jasc Paintshop Pro was the bees knees! I used a mouse cos tablets were suuuuper expensive but I really like THAT program. They don't exist anymore though, I think Corel bought them! GIMP gets me by for now though! XD
I agree with you on making connections here better than DA. Like I do like DA and most of my art is over there, but it does feel better here with connecting to others and making friendships. And I really hope to make friends, cause I really don't have any friends hahaha!!
Oi, I hear you loud 'n clear! I am in the military so we move a lot...my folks were in when I was a kid too, so the struggle to maintain friendships is nothing new! I really wanted to connect to other artists, talk to them about their work and the meanings and emotions behind them for so long! Remember Elfwood? Yeah, some of my old stuff is on there, and I never managed to build any meaningful friendships there either...dA is nice, but I think its just TOO big, ya know? I had a couple good solid relationships--but I found out those artists were on here too! XD
I will hafta look for ya on dA, next time I am on there! My SN is still t4mk4t, if you wanna look me up...oh wait, I sent you a linkie already! Duh!
Yeah you did!!!! And I went over and saw your stuff. Admittedly not all of your stuff, but the art you send me to see. And they were aweeesome!! Me thinks I'm following you over there too. Haha!!
