At midnight, in the month of June,
I stand beneath the mystic moon.
An opiate vapor, dewy, dim
Exhales from out her golden rim,
And, softly dripping, drop by drop,
Upon the silent mountain top,
Steals drowsily and musically
Into the universal valley...
---- Edgar Allan Poe: The Sleeper (1831)
Actually, I was gonna tell a story here. A story about how I made a bet with a friend; a bet that I could make a painting more kitschy than the kitschiest of William Bouguereau. And that I totally won the bet.
But I shall be honest: There was no such bet. I painted this picture completely from my own motivation, and I truly enjoyed painting it, so I will make no apologies for it.
Medium: Wacom tablet and Photoshop
Time: Somewhere between lunch and dinner. Just kidding! Actually, somewhere between 20 and 40 hours.
