Experiment: how many people can I fit into one painting?
I love how J.W. Waterhouse handles light and color; he paints it in an incredibly subtle way that never appears "impressionistic", strong or surreal, but modest and yet strikingly realistic. Just beautiful!
I didn't have any illusions of ever reaching his level of expertise in the near future, but in this painting, I tried to figure out his way of painting, especially skin. It was a lot of fun.
The background marble and mosaic are from www.cgtextures.com ; everything else is painted by me.
