Aug 4thMy name is Rick Corbett. I am a graphite and colored pencil portrait artist. I am a self-taught artist. I am also a member of the Woburn Guild of Artists. I am inspired not only by other artists but from life itself. I am inspired by people, textures, smells, sounds, all my senses seem to come alive when I draw. My drawings take me on an artistic journey of self discovery. I feel my soul awaken when I draw. GOD has given me a gift and it's a gift I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's a gift I hope to use to capture the beauty that's in this World. I don't want my drawings to simply be pictures drawn on pieces of paper - I want my drawings to be a celebration of life. My portraits are like my children. I created them and I'm proud of them. I hope to change the way people "see" each other. Everyone is special in their own special way. People trul inspire me. I love to learn about people, I love to learn backgrounds, traditions, and cultures. I think this is why I became a portrait artist, it just seemed natural to me. I believe that every person is beautiful and I hope to bring out that beauty in each portrait I draw. I hope to bring out the person's soul. I thank GOD everyday for the gift HE has given me. It's a gift that I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's one I hope to bring everyone's inner beauty out. It's one that I hope to make us all learn something about ourselves. It's a gift I hope that will bring a smile to someone's face or bring joy in someone's life.
Mar 13th, 2012Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.

Jul 26th, 2011My name is Chris and iv bin drawing for 18 some odd years, but iv only got really good at it in the past 3 years. So theres not that much to tell, im a overweight geek artist from Canada that loves good food, the lady's, anything to do with Wolverine and beer. Dont you just love my set of priority? Iv bin drawing for most of my life and the big reason why i started drawing was the cartoons i was watching. Stuff like Bugs Bunny and Transformers when i was little then i watched other stuff like DragonballZ, Sailor Moon, Batman and Spiderman when i was a bit older. So at least half of my influence are very "anime". But as i got older i realized that everybody, and i mean everybody was ither trying to draw anime style or was drawing it. And it seemed to me that i needed to find my own identity and style to truly defined myself as a artist. So now i try to do something along the lines of a "American comic books" look to my art with lots of black and extreme crosshatching but i never forget my anime roots and you can see it in the largeness of the eyes and some crazy hair styles i used to do. Also i was always interested in the human body and its anatomy which is rather helpful when it comes to making your pictures even more interesting to look at. Iv always had a very vivid and powerful imagination which i think helps drawing in every way. But a picture can only tell so much but writing the words and saying the words can do so much more. Dont get me wrong i dont fancy myself as a "writer" but i do try to write here and there. What i like to do is express myself in all ways of expression. So i try to branch my skills in all art forms.

Jun 16th, 2011the ignition of making a positive world is you yourself. I'm ghalamDAR (which means writer/author in Farsi). i started art with graphic designing in 2005... which was a real accident...! i was just trying to make some logos for my name and i found it interesting, so i continued and reached this level... i got into graffiti and street art in 2009 but the first time i hold an spray can was about 2006... actually when i played getting up video game and just got stock in it's atmosphere!!! ( i was such a kid in that time!!!!) i started with the walls of subway terminal... they were pretty unclean but completely safe to waste time on them... this year (2011) i decided to get involved more seriously... so i gave exams and changed my courses from mathematics and physics to visual arts... and i got into "Tehran Art University" which is the best art university in Iran... right now... i feel happy with the road i stepped in... cause I'm sure that i just found the reason of my creation...
