Mentor Program: The List

Due to the high interest of Shadowness members in starting a mentor program, here is a how-to document explaining how to get started and lists of both mentors and students up for grabs!

How it works:

One member will mentor another member (student). The two will decide among themselves how it is going to be accomplished. Try to decide how many sessions you should do, and how long each session should be. Please be respectful of one another’s time and meet your commitments. Respect is Key to creating a good mentor-student relationship. Someone who decides to be a mentor can have as many students as they feel they can take on. Each student can only be mentored by one member at a time, please.

We think this can benefit both the student and the mentor since it requires one to look with a new eye at your art and/or someone else’s art. Mentoring is a great learning process!

What the ‘Love & Support’ group will do:

Just to make sure everything goes smoothly in the contact between mentor and student, I will contact both sides during the mentorship to ask how it goes. Please do not hesitate to contact me, /Caja , if things aren't going as they should. I will also make sure the list is up to date with new mentors and students.

How to join the mentor program:

If you want to mentor you just write a note in the group comments or contact /Caja with your information. Please state the following in your message:
1. Art field(s) you are fluent in
2. Things you can help with:

If you wish to be mentored, please write in the comments or contact /Caja with your information. Please state the following in your message:
1. Art field(s) that you wish to learn more about
2. Techniques, ideas, software, etc. that you need help with

Important information:

The list of both mentors and students will be updated regularly, so check in the group posts once in a while. If you do not wish to be on the list any longer, please leave a notice in the comments or contact /Caja for removal. If you are participating in a mentorship as a student your name will be removed from the list, however, you can always ask for it to be replaced when your mentorship is complete.

NOTE: You do not need to be in the list to take on a student or ask a possible mentor for mentorship BUT you have to contact /Caja if you start a mentorship with someone.

How to start a mentorship:

You go to the person's page and ask if they wish to be your student or mentor, if the person says yes you contact /Caja with the good news!

Can help with: I would say my strongest area is in Digital Painting. So Formal design and process. I've been using Photoshop since version 1 and can really help people with speeding up their process using it.
