My first attempt in drawing by charcoal. I started this drawing in 2011 and finished it already in 2012. This medium is new for me and I have a lot of problems working with it, I began to get used to it only in the end. But I like charcoal for its great contrast. I think the next time I'll take more smooth paper.

You did a good job, and it's a hard medium to control because it lifts and smears so easily. Charcoal in the classroom is used for quick figure studies or in the past for sketching large murals. I started buying woodless pencils for doing graphite pencil toned drawings, and if I keep a piece of paper under my drawing hand I can do detail work to my hearts content. Plus I always have a kneaded eraser handy to pull my whites back up if need be. Good luck! You are a really good artist, and charcoal is a difficult medium to control. Plus you can hold your details with a spray fixative, but it will also darken the paper and change the subtlety of the work, which I find frustrating!

Thank you so much for your words!
Yes, it was really difficult to control Usually I also use all these drawing tools that you called. Only for pastel drawings I don't use fixative, because already twice I almost ruined my works.)))
