Juliette Rose

by leiko in photography portfolio

When she modelled for the Oct. 2006 issue of Playboy, she went under the alias Juliette Rose. Previous to the release of the issue, however, she and I had a photoshoot for UCLA's feminist magazine FEM, for an article she did discussing her views on Playboy and how they relate to Feminism.

The images from the photoshoot were never used, because she lied in her interview that this was her body without diet. She later revealed that she had become body conscious due to her experiences with Playboy, and wasn't eating as much as she should be.

Taken on the UCLA campus.

Update: She is now going by her real name Juliette Rose Frette, now. She was Playmate of the month, 2008.

Fascinating juxtaposition of solitudes mentioned here (whack-off object vs. proponent feminine strength and certitude) that seem ripe for bumping together.

Do you still have the article Leiko? It would be a nice article to post for further deconstruction.

OMFG!!! She wasn't eating as much as she used too???? She was becoming too body conscious????? Darn her soul to Halifax. As if this should matter to feminists...what an ironic twist.

I like the photo: despite the fact that shes drop dead gorgeous, there's a photo- verite aspect to it from the slightly skewed angle and the sunlight on the hair. Overall effect is one of melancholia.

As with the other image i commented on in this series, you have used a bit too much dof here as well in my opinion. It's sharp from foreground to way in the back. Using less dof would bring her out more against the buzzy background.

Lightwise this is much better since you put her in the light and the rest out of it, which makes her pop out. But if you had her turned just a tad, she would almost have a halo around her head due to the light falling on her hair /head from behind.. Wouldn't that fit her more.. ah well the story that it was intended to be?
