killadore - Artemisia Absinthium
My attempt at a steampunk version of the Green Fairy. Artemisia Absinthium is an ingredient in the liquor absinthe, and also used for flavouring in some other spirits and wines. The plant's leaves can be seen in the background of the painting.
The model is my good friend Katrine, (see her page here: http://nevermoria.deviantart.com/) who for a while now has been wondering how to become a cartoon character. So now she is, in a way. The other two models are her pet rats.

Naturally plenty of photo references were used.
Created entirely in Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom Volito 2 tablet.

killadore - Don't Panic
This one was more about painting a certain feeling and moment than an actual image. So the image might look random, but it's not.

Time: about...2 hours, yup
Reference used: Cannibal Corpse's video for 'Make them suffer'. Not a big CC fan, but eh..
PS CS3 + Wacom Volito 2

killadore - Let's put a smile on that face!
I suppose no introduction's necessary, but just for the sake of clarity: This is a portrait of The Joker.

This was an immediate reaction on seeing the movie for the first time.

Usually I have a somewhat clean style of painting/drawing, but I felt a bit of chaos would be appropriate for this one.

Time: 2-3 hours

References: none or several, depending on how you count. This is not based on any specific photos, but quite many were used to figure out how to paint him.

Tools: Photoshop CS3 + Wacom Volito2 tablet
Created in 1 layer

killadore - Happy Deviant Holidays
I began this one last year around Christmas, but never got 'round to finishing it...so recently I thought I'd clean it up and put it here.

Consider this an alternative take on Santa Claus.

killadore - HIFX Model: Evolution blue
Decided to try lighter colors for a change.
Used a reference photo for the face, but the rest is just stuff pulled out of my head.
Photoshop CS3 and Wacom Volito2 tablet.
There's 2 different versions of this.
For anyone who's interested in checking out the other version and the closeups:

killadore - The Portrait
A creature has made a home of my head.
It's a light shade of blue and is surrounded
By murderous red
It roams there freely
Antennas pointing to the ceiling
It makes a mess of my thoughts
Like living melody

It has big eyes
A curious mouth
And feeds on my dreams

So I made a portrait
To celebrate its invasion

Experimenting with colors and feelings...
I decided to try something new again. The simplicity of this was something I hadn't worked much with before. So it was about trying to keep it very clean and simple, without having it become boring..

Finished it at 3am one night, a couple of nights' work.
The poem is mine too. (c)

killadore - This is what I want for my new body
I decided to try doing something I've never done: painting an abstract..
It was a huge challenge for me, because I'm used to painting things withe edges and shadows and forms.

photoshop 7.0 + wacom volito2 tablet..
A couple of days' work

killadore - Raphael
A corrected version of my first digital painting finished about 3 years ago.
The painting is 100% imagination, since I've unfortunately never met any mutant turtles in person.
Done in PS with a Wacom Volito2

TMNT are (c) Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.
