This was a more ambitious print from an animal study I did in cooperation with the Toledo Zoo.
It's an 18 x 18 in dye transfer on platinum coated tin
I like moon jellies, especially in zoo's since they light it so nice. There was a little girl who was watching with me, so we devised a plan to include her in the print. It's a single frame, just a reflection from the angle. I like this quite a bit, it's always been a favorite print. It really jumps out, and to me has a vintage quality about it, like the old Quest cartoons.
Thank you for looking.

This is being awarded a much deserved Daily Feature to go along with the Portfolio spotlight. ;]
Jun 14th, 2011 ReplyThe girl's presence really makes this special, I think it brings back those memories a lot of us have as young kids going down into some subterranean aquatic fantasy land at an aquarium and the sense of wonder we had at the time. It helps lend child's eyes to the whole audience so we can see those jellies in a new way. Add to the content, the beautiful technique used, and I can't think of anything I'd rather get to feature tonight.

Definitely a favorite. Very good idea to include the little girl, eerier and somehow more innocent.
