Gas Mask

It's based on my brother's song entitled "Gas Mask". It includes the lines(not in order): As barbed wire covers my eyes With your hand in your empire of liars Bombs covering the lies The captain has been shot his blood runs hot Grab your gasmask and your musket. Father this one is for your casket Most of these are self explanatory in relation to the art piece. The captain is the father who was shot and killed, the gas mask and muskets. Some of you might not know why the caduceus(the winged staff with two snakes) is in there. It was originally associated with the roman god Mercury, who was the messenger of the gods, guide of the dead and protector of merchants, shepherds, gamblers, liars and thieves. This turned it into a symbol of commerce. However the US Army medical corps in 1902 insisted on using this despite the fact that medical professionals used the rod of Asclepius(a rod with one snake) who was the the greek god of medicine and healing. Now, most commercial health organizations use the caduceus where as most individual professionals use the rod of Asclepius. The U.S. is like a modern empire and, if nothing else, their use of the caduceus is a lie. The bombs are "covering" the lies.
