the left panel is the paper negative (inverted in PS).
the right panel is the original.
i didn't see her at all in the original.
i didn't even see her in the negative, not even after inverting it and adjusting the contrast.
i didn't see her until today in fact, when i placed them next to each other to do a diptych.
at first i only saw her in the negative panel.
i had to look very, very hard to find her in the original, but i see her now, hiding there, in the darkness...
this shot was taken in a dark room, no flash, at my husband's parents house, 2 weeks ago.
the woman in the left panel looks like my husband's mom.
she died in 2006.

but maybe it's a real intent to communicate... or simply something like an 'imprint' in the atmosphere of a certain place where people lived once... you should try it again!

very strange... to be honest, I cannot figure out at person at all, but it's you who have known her in life! shortly after the invetion of photography similar phenomena appeared 'ghost photos' (ofte taken in very low light conditions) and then often attributed to the poor quality of glassplates, etc.

plus, the human mind is kind of programmed to recognize faces/shapes of faces... i see faces everywhere in different textures. it's probably like you say, it's because i knew her that i can see her
