Torbjørn og Ragnhild

by isissousa in Portfolio

Painted with Painter XI, it took me about 3 days to be finished with it; one for the concept, two for the painting process.

These are two fantasy characters of mine, from the end of the Viking Age. The guy is called Torbjørn and the elf-girl is Ragnhild.

Torbjørn is dressed in” saueskinn” (sheep skin); while Ragnhild is using a woolen cape, decorated with traditional bunad* stiches. Her pullover is made in a technique called nålbinding, popular among the Vikings at that time.

You can research more about “bunad” and “nålbinding or nålebinding” on the Wikipedia and other sites.
Hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!

You are one of the few artist i've seen who give the perfect words with their upload. (sorry for my bad english) You give us the story behind your digital faces, the details of the clothing and even the history of (your?) country. I personally will remember artwork a lot better when i could read the story that comes with it. It's like someone before me have said,..you are very inspirational. Many people could learn a lot from you. My respect.

No problems with your English. I totally understand you! I am not a native speaker myself hihi :D

Thank you for your kind words! :) I always try to tell a little bit about the process and also, bring some History/Folklore information :) I am glad you like this one!

It's more "love" this one, instead of "like"

The cold air burning, the fear in their eyes seeking, where is is the way out? Shall the escape from death be the fate crossed? Excellent work .
