Nahò:ten kén:ton' ~~~~ WARNING think before you re-enforce native stereotypes~ it's racist~ example... our women DID NOT wear head dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "The image of a warbonnet and warpaint wearing Indian is one that has been created and perpetuated by Hollywood and only bears minimal resemblance to traditional regalia of Plains tribes. It furthers the stereotype that Native peoples are one monolithic culture, when in fact there are 500+ distinct tribes with their own cultures. It also places Native people in the historic past, as something that cannot exist in modern society. We don't walk around in ceremonial attire everyday, but we still exist and are still Native." (excerpt from http://nativeappropriations.blogspot.ca) Learn to constrain your inclination to constantly privilege your perspective~ as well if you choose to use any of my works~ ask and ye shall be surprised at my response.... just ask.......... Twitter: @fuzzyp1ggy 40 years old, only discovered photography about 4 years ago. I work as an iT techie for a Swiss bank and it's very draining, the photography gets me out and about and helps me switch off the work and do something creative adding value to my life. My wife and my little one are the most precious things in the world and it's only because of their patience with my obsession that I can persue this. They tolerate me getting up at 3am on weekends and disappearing off hundreds of miles away to take pictures! My great-great-grandfather was a landscape photographer, grandparents, even my parents were amateur photographers, it's almost genetic now! LOL! While most my work colleagues choose to sit at home in a coma watching TV leaving nothing of worth, I hope that maybe doing this I will leave just a little something behind when I shuffle off this plane of existence.

My name is Rick Corbett. I am a graphite and colored pencil portrait artist. My work can be seen on my website at: http://www.rickcorbettart.com/ I am a self-taught artist. I am also a member of the Woburn Guild of Artists. I am inspired not only by other artists but from life itself. I am inspired by people, textures, smells, sounds, all my senses seem to come alive when I draw. My drawings take me on an artistic journey of self discovery. I feel my soul awaken when I draw. GOD has given me a gift and it's a gift I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's a gift I hope to use to capture the beauty that's in this World. I don't want my drawings to simply be pictures drawn on pieces of paper - I want my drawings to be a celebration of life. My portraits are like my children. I created them and I'm proud of them. I hope to change the way people "see" each other. Everyone is special in their own special way. People trul inspire me. I love to learn about people, I love to learn backgrounds, traditions, and cultures. I think this is why I became a portrait artist, it just seemed natural to me. I believe that every person is beautiful and I hope to bring out that beauty in each portrait I draw. I hope to bring out the person's soul. I thank GOD everyday for the gift HE has given me. It's a gift that I hope to use to bring people closer together. It's one I hope to bring everyone's inner beauty out. It's one that I hope to make us all learn something about ourselves. It's a gift I hope that will bring a smile to someone's face or bring joy in someone's life.
