this piece came to me in a dream fully realized, right down to the title. it was so vivid I knew I had to create it as soon as possible.
I did a lot of experimenting with this one and took a whole new approach to my texture work. Usually I use modelling paste to lay down my texture layer first and then paint over top of it. This time I mixed the paint with heavy body gel medium and some opaque flakes texturing paste and did all the texture with my pallet knives first. Then I did my usual dry brushing with some metallic paints and added a couple very light washes of warm brown to smooth out some of the colours I wasn't entirely happy with and to enhance the grooves in the texture. After that I glued on the nails, painted on the drips and used a sponge to add more colour and stuff.
