Every Friday, we get together and welcome the new members to Shadowness by featuring some artwork from members who've joined in the last week. This is a perfect place for everyone to come together each week and post a mini-bio so that everyone can get to know them. You can do this every week, if you like, it helps keep the community close, and makes certain that noone slips through the cracks. Each week, we have over 300 new members, so there could easily be 600 comments on each Meet and Greet article! That would be fine with me. Please, comment on each other's profiles and artworks. Awesome new works and great new members! I'm so pleased with the comments and artwork that has been flooding Shadowness lately!
Hi, I'm Joseph, Joe or 'hey you'. whichever you like. I'm 32 years old and a member of the Staff here on Shadowness. I write about 7 articles a week, if you check the /news you're bound to find some cool stuff there and see my strange head bobbing about.

My favorite type of artwork is mainly that which allows me to see the usual in an un-usual way. I love hard-hitting emotional pieces, surrealism, journalism, candid photos and psychedelic artwork.

I found this place via my friend and fellow staffer /dehk he invited me in to help beta-test the environment for V9 and i was instantly hooked. Then Meng pried open my eyelids and chained me to a Mac fitted with only MS Word that screams and sets off alarms if you don't type fast enough.

My newest and most favorite project is huge, and classified. Other than that, I just take photos, and submit poetry to the magazines for rejection slips that I can recycle. Thats about it.
I'm looking forward to reading all of your stories!

Guess I'll start it off. I found this place-- no no, this place was found FOR me by May, to whom I owe my eternal, undying gratitude for inviting me here. ; )

I love all kinds of artwork, though there are only a few types I do myself. I love Apophysis fractals, for instance, but have no desire to spend the time learning how to do it (and besides, the Mac port is pretty lame). I guess my very favorite subjects are portraits, landscapes, wildlife/animal art, and architectural.

I'm currently developing a portfolio of Overwhelmingly Cute Baby Animals, because a) I want to sell my work, and b) I love animals, especially the cute ones.

I have to say one other thing: this place rocks.

1. I like serious and creative work. Technique matters a lot to me in my own work and the work I look at, but not more than personal vision and ideas worth sharing.

2. There was some facebook buzz about the place from /Fangedfem and others, then /Snowmask mentioned she got a portfolio feature and I thought anyplace savvy enough to feature Katie I should join.

3. Not newest, but the work with our crew [including the two friends mentioned above] at Resurgere is likely the best project I've done and my favorite.

Hi,,Im Hermawan Susanto a.k,a Cerah-Art,im 25 years old.My real job is a Pastry Baker in one of the biggest bread and pastry company in jakarta,Indonesia

Im fairly new in this world of digital art,i mean i always loves art,i can draw,playing music and write a song for my band,and when it(my band) got stuck,,im sort of gotten into digital art,which in a way i felt so lucky,,its revealing,and a lot of excitement.Just so you know im still learning,and im always are,

My favorite subject for my artwork its mostly fantasy and a little bit DarkArt,i got so much inspirations from the movie i love,such as Tim Burton movies,Narnia series,Golden Compass and etc.sometimes i got inspire from a music that i love too,and also i dont hesitate to put social matters for a theme to my artwork..
I really love to explore a different style,thats why its kind a hard to tell where directions im gonna go :D,hell,im myself dont know where the hell im gonna go :D

When i found Shadowness,i was invited by my friend /ayrus which is lately not active at all i dont know why,and i am glad that he's invited me cuz this site its different,its exciting and always encourage me to improve more :)

No newest project just working on every idea that pop in my head every day,and no most favorite cuz to me its always a wild ride making an artwork,especially for this site,, and some other site,,

Hi Girls and Boys, Women and Men ;) .

First off, a big thanks for featuring my work here — and honestly along with May, Giselle, Noémi, Bob and all these awesome artists is quite a privilege!

I've also been kindly invited by Master Tigress, aka the wonderful May. One year ago I created an account on DeviantArt, where I «met» brilliant fellows and got hooked on exploring art and opening my mind to various emotions and tasteful artworks.

I was born in '68 in Belgium. Did a few pencil portraits about twenty years ago, essentially women, icons of Beauty, IMHO. I stopped for about twenty years and was back on duty shortly before I subscribed to dA last year.

I'm an IT tech' guy (a developer, mostly) and my formation has nothing to do with art — although I have the modest pretension to do art in the way I write my code ;) . I mostly (hope I) do art for the pleasure and am basically self-taught, while constantly learning from amazing artists all over the place.

And about a place, this one is absolutely fabulous, some of you know what I mean. I think I'm hooked for good.

Neither Windows nor MacOS are for me. I work and play with Linux and Free Software (as in Freedom of Speech). Lastly and as you probably noticed, I like to go verbose at times ;) .

You guys plain rock!

What is your favorite subject or theme for artwork? my fav is digital photo-manipulation. I create so many designs within the field as well as basic graphic design. Even im not a professional, but i practice and do my best.

How did you find Shadowness?I found shadowness through going on fb, finding artistic fan pages that i liked and was interested based on what my goals are and what i wanted to achieve.

What is your newest/most favorite project is a great question, I always say that my best project is my newest one. I always learn something new with each project, weather it be using photoshop or using my brain to think of my theme and idea.

I am a young digital artist who has traveled the world. I have first handed seen what the world is made up of and what is in it. with everything I have learned i try to base my art of original and new themes with a twist of my personal style. i also try to present my works in an attractive and beautiful manner. Hi guys. Well i need to say... I'm feel so happy to be a part of shadowness!!!! here I find many kindly people, great comment that really help us to dreaming and Still learning, well, really a great site.

About me... I'm a graphic designer in a Office and Supplies manufacturer company, so 2 years ago I decide to trying to do my child dream a reality. Starting drawing some characters and coloring it, then I saw a drawing of one friend and I do some colors on it. he like it and recomend me with Salvador Raga, a friend of US and we start a project named "Soccer tales", my first job as colorist.

Since this, I love the colorist job and start coloring and looking for this related job oportunities. Today I have my fisrt top cover with Zenescope with Grimm Fairy tales Vol.9, still working on 4 comic titles: Aline and xerus cube, gevaudan, Bushido.44 and a new project with ferric Press :)

With this I just can said that "The dreams come true!!"

Hehe, from one Martin to the other, I guess...

Well, I'm Martin Krans from Amersfoort, the Netherlands. In daily life, I'm a product manager, business analist and software designer at a small IT-company (~250 employees), working on projects mainly in the financial sector. At my first job, I had some colleagues who got me interested in photography and that's when I bought my first camera, a Canon PowerShot S60. Pretty soon, I was hooked and also pretty soon, I ran into the limitations of that camera. So I switched to my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 and started experimenting more and more with all possible settings and all kinds of photography. Nowadays, I shoot with a Nikon D300 and discovering that instead of zoom-lenses, I'm starting to prefer primes instead (I won't bore everybody with the stuff that's in my camera bag; if you want to know, just send me a line ;))

As for my favorite subject or theme for my artworks: as you can see in my gallery, I don't really have a favorite subject or theme. I'm interested in all aspects of photography, regardless of whether it's the real technical stuff (to a certain degree) about hardware, photography techniques or different styles. In other words, I'm a real generalist.

I found out about Shadowness through deviantArt. I was (and still am) a member of Love4Photography there, and in one of the news posts, the owner of that group posted a link to this site. Been hooked ever since :)

As far as current projects, I must admit that there currently are none (although I have more than enough ideas), since it's a really busy period on a personal level at the moment (with my girlfriend graduating at the art academy in the next few months and some work stuff with deadlines and such). So I'll stick to naming my two favorite "projects": one was a visit to Castle d’Aspremont-Lynden, Rekem, Belgium, an old and abandoned castle / mansion / sanitarium that was very, very impressive. The other was a photoshoot with two good friends of mine, of which the "yoga"-set and "fingerpaint"-set were the result.

By the way, if you haven't noticed yet, I'm not a professional photographer in the sense that my works are published anywhere. I don't make a single dime with it, I just really like to go out and record the interesting things I encounter. I'm glad that so many of my works receive nice comments and good criticism here and that other people enjoy them, hopefully almost as much as I enjoy taking and posting them :)

Hi guys , first of all i want to thank Sir Hellonastick and all the staff of shadowness for this opportunity ,really .. thank you guys!Now let me introduce myself . My name is Jet Bustamante , 12 years old from Philippines. I do vectors/vexels/doodle/drawings etc. I like using Photoshop as my medium. I Start vectoring since i was 11 (2009) I'm really glad that im part of the shadowness community! keep growing guys!

My favorite subject or theme for artwork would be vectoring people, i like it because there's so many vector artist here in Philippines that inspires me. And because of that it keeps me on continuing this hobby.So I thank all of the vector artist that inspired me!

We have a group in facebook called - Vector X Vexel PH , and most of them said that they're featured in shadowness and then i said "Someday , My art will be featured" haha , then someone ask me , You have shadowness? then I replied "no" then he said i better make one so i can be featured . Then i made one , and yes! after i uploaded my artwork it has been featured! i was so happy that time. And that's it , that's how i get ADDICTED to shadowness. HAHA!

Q: What is your newest/most favorite project?
Umm.. my newest project would be my vector of Avril Lavigne that u can see up there ^^^

Hello everyone. My name is Mayumi and I’m a self-taught pencil artist. I’m quite new here and I’d like to thank everyone for the warm welcome, I’d also like to thank Giselle, my dear friend, for inviting me to this wonderful community.

I was born and raised in Japan, and moved to Canada about 20 years ago. I don’t have much problem communicating but writing is not my forte. I can’t live without a dictionary. :D

As I mentioned, I’m self-taught but I was fortunate to have a wonderful gift from my great-grandfather. He was very artistic, and many of my relatives seem to have inherited this wonderful gift.

I have tried other mediums but never felt the same excitement to create art only pencil and paper. I’ve always been fascinated by ‘light and shadow’ and pencil art is all about ‘light and shadow’ so I think this is my thing. Speaking about shadow... I often think that people must think of me wired when everyone is looking at something and I’m looking at the shadow it’s casting. Oh well, I’m an artist. We’re okay to be a bit different. Right? :)

Wow im honored!, well i suppose it's time to answer the questions :D, English is not my native language so excuse me for my poor grammar :P, im from Colombia, been drawing since i can, and have been keeping it like my space to break out and take a breath from the regular life issues. I study biology in the university at moment.

Q:What is your favorite subject or theme for artwork?

I don't have a favorite theme, but i sure like to draw skulls and that stuff :D, my artwork focuses mostly in showing my thoughts, thing like the social inequality and death, etc :P.

How did you find Shadowness?

i found shadowness because some friends at hysterical minds started to talk about it, i came here and started uploading my stuff and what a surprise i had when i saw the warm welcome and all the critics and feedback!, im very glad i met shadowness!

What is your newest/most favorite project

im working right now on improving the quality of my artwork, focusing on rendering, making some here and there, hope i finish them soon so i can show it to you =)

Q: What is your favorite subject or theme for artwork?

My favourite subject couldn't be more obvious, pretty ladies. I love that you can do so much with a single canvas of a woman -- crazy makeup, wonderful hair, etc. When it comes to themes, it may not be too apparent in what I've posted here -- and this may be a little depressing -- but if you were to see a lot of the stuff I've started but never finished (and believe me, if I had an incomplete gallery, it would outweigh any gallery of completed works.) you would notice usually looks of struggle or sadness ^^; I really love those emotions portrayed through artwork, and it happens to be my favourite kind of music for the piano I like to play/compose.

Q: How did you find Shadowness?

Being a member of deviantART, I had heard about Shadowness somewhat, but one day (the 27th of april) I logged into facebook, and saw /snowmask had said something about never logging in here and feeling bad so I checked it out, joined, learned the interface, posted some stuff up and was overwhelmed with the short amount of time it took to get feedback. Instantly in love, and not putting down aforementioned art site, because I do have great moments there, but this is probably my primary site now ;)

Q: What is your newest/most favorite project

My most favourite project of the projects I have coming along would be this one: http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/851/tobeaghost.jpg it's a digital painting. I have that one on the backburner though, because my newest project is coming along very well. I had a conversation with /snowmask about colour palettes since that is what I have most trouble with when it comes to digital paintings, then I started something and it evolved to what will definitely be my best painting. I won't share WIP of that though :p

Hi, I'm Giselle and I joined Shadowness this past week. I must thank the creators for making such a lovely site.

I'm a Canadian living in NS. I work with my husband designing and building websites as well as making commercial graphics. My real love is in creating both traditional and digital fine art. I strive for as much realism as I can in all my creations.

Q:What is your favorite subject or theme for artwork?
A:I would have to say that my preferred subjects to paint are portraits and nature but I like trying out new things.

Oh wow about me? Ok I am a prostrated photographer hehe and a simple guy love graphic designing . I worked at Department of Tourism as Graphic Designer and Photographer as well ,

Q: What is your favorite subject or theme for artwork?
A:I dunno but just come up with my mind heheheh but usually water, fire and sky are my pre instinct themes and also I love nature too. I love doing landscapes shots on the beach and mountains, and for graphic design my favorite theme are surreal and photo manipulation like light effects. Im addict with lights heheheh…I love exploring …
