Hi! I'm Joseph, Joe, Jo or whatever you'd like to call me to get my attention. I'm staff here on Shadowness, and you'll see that I write a lot of articles in the /news every day! i can also be found commenting on new artworks each day and featuring everything from Comments to Groups!
I'm a writer and a musician primarily, but I also love film photography. Any new film-heads can always find me willing to talk cameras, film and developers.
This summer, my biggest goal is to get out to the wild places and photo, photo, photo! the spring here has been rather drab, not much in the way of color and lots of rain. I hope that changes and lets me get out and shoot more. I have too many projects to finish!
I found shadowness through my friend /dehk who brought me in, then they tied me to a chair and chained a typewriter to my hands and let /caja whip me until i produced articles. lol. No, really I was enchanted by the members and the art here, and really wanted to participate.
My favorite artists are many and varied. many of them are here on shadowness. Traditionally...I really like Kris Kuksi's work, the photography of helmut newton and Severin Koller, as well as the traditional artwork of Jean Bastarache and Mark Ryden. There are 1000's I suppose, but those are the ones that popped into my head this instant.
Who am I?
I'm Meng, the guy behind this site. A pleasure to meet you.
Who are your favorite artists?
Jonathan Ive (the guy who designs the Apple products), Masamune Shirow, Hyung-Tae Kim to name a few. I strongly value consistency and discipline. I love it when an artist can create masterpieces one after another and absolutely capture the imagination of the audience while injecting a high dose of style and confidence.
What is your biggest goal for the summer?
Be everywhere at once. I want Shadowness to be an open platform and to strive for the artists by helping them promote and make a living out of it. For that to happen, I need to commit myself and expand our networks, find a large audience and give the best tools possible to share. It's a large discipline, but I will be relentless in pursuit of quality.
Glad that got here)))!!!...
(Who are your favorite artists?) - Almost all of my idols can be seen here http://cryingsilence.ru/inspiration/my-idols/

Jun 3rd, 2011Hello!
My name is Suzanne, or Suuz, or Ana, or "that weird lady". As long as I know you're talking to me, feel free to call me whichever.
I focus mostly on Digital Illustration, but am known to operate a Canon 500D by surprise.
Who are your favorite artists?: Charlie Bowater, Michael Turner (RIP), Victoria Frances, Melissa Findley, Melanie Delon, Chantal Snackey... Not particular favorites, but they definitely inspire me the most!
How did you find Shadowness?: I remember SN from a loooooooong long time back when I was still part of a community called EJ designs. That was where I started my digital design journey =D I remembered the name one evening and decided to have a look at the site again and was blown away.
Immediately made a profile and started uploading works =D
My biggest goal for the summer is to RELAX! I have had quite a tumultuous year so far and I need to learn when to say "enough"..... So I will be trying to enjoy what I do and take some more "me-time" ^_^
And finish this big project I am working on.... It's personal, it's big and I am already proud!!
Everything they write about yourself))) but I forgot to write) to correct)
My name is Anastasia, I'm from Russia.

Hello!
My name is Devon, I'm from New York. I'm mostly into working digital, but I do dab in traditional once in a while. I'm going to school for art starting in the fall:)
My favorite artists would have to be Chris Cold, Romain Jacquet, and Alicexz. All of these artists continue to amaze me and have me going back for more.
I found shadowness through another websites daily inspiration page(http://abduzeedo.com/). I found one piece of work that I really liked and that brought me here. I've been hooked since.
My biggest goals for the summer are to focus in on digital painting as well as try different traditonal techniques, and hopefully end up blending the two together.& Have some fun before school hits me once again.
I love seeing others works, and can't wait to see what others post! Thanks for all the inspiration you guys!
My name is Tamara, I am 19 years and I live in Bavaria, near the Bavarian Forest. My love for photography started when I was a child, I shot everything I saw - flowers, animals, rain drops ... I am fascinated by the possibility of keeping memories in a simple photo. You'll always remember the day when you took a photo, and when you felt something strong at this day, you'll remember this feeling even after years, no matter what you shot with your camera.
Moreover I think there is no better way than art to express oneself. It's not all about technique, but it's about the soul and the love. Art is able to touch lives, regardless of language or distance, and that's why I love photography.
My favorite artists? For sure Cyril Rolando (AquaSixio), because his art is so touching and full of emotions; Gilad Benari, because he really has an eye for photography and catching beautiful moments; Jenni Tapanila, because her pictures are full of expression and Archan Nair, because his work is so full of color, joy and spirit!
I found shadowness through a link posted by Deathsoldier on deviantArt; I always wanted to try out a new art community, so I decided to join.
If you ask me what my biggest goal for summer is, I really can't answer. I guess the only goal someone has to reach is being happy. I want to enjoy every day and see the beauty of the world.
My name is Phillicia Deanell AKA HeirOfGlee / Glee / HOG. I was born in Trinidad and raised in Brooklyn NY. I started out with markers but ever since I touched Photoshop CS2 I have been a digital artist for over 5 years and learned everything on my own and till this day is still learning about it. I was in college for computer animation but became sick and cant go back as of now. Still I am a cancer survivor and will not quite at what I do.
Who are your favorite artists?
Caravaggio, Tsukiji Nao & Dominique Ingres
I am embarrassed to say if you ever came up to me in the street I wont remember most by heart cause i'm not good at names.
How did you find Shadowness?
Through a post on Deviant art. Someone wanted to explore and im always up to do so and try new things. Here I am.
What is your biggest goal for the summer?
Other than cosplay and becoming a dog walker I want to fill my portfolio with fantasy and OC art, get a new desktop apple computer and share my work to the fullest. But the biggest of them all is for me to get to know more people. I'm scared of people and need that out of my personality.
Its great to meet you all! Thanks for giving great answers, I really appreciate the chance to get to meet you all 'in person' :)
Jun 3rd, 2011Hi all!
I'm Ivona from Croatia, a 30 year old jeweler wannabe :D Have been making jewelry for the past 10 years and my biggest success so far was Fashion Week 2010 (you can see some of my stuff in this video: http://www.index.hr/xmag/clanak/video--druga-vecer-na-dfwzu-alex-grdic-pokazala-silikonski-dekolte-u-koznom-kostimu/525620.aspx it starts @ 3:09)
I'm trying to reach a level where i could support myself with jewelry and quit my day job :fingerscrossed:
This summer is mostly booked for various fashion shows and exhibitions. I plan to use the leftover time to make a collection of affordable biomechanical/industrial jewelry
And prepare for fall Fashion Week 2011 :D
My favorite artists would be HR Giger, Salvador Dali, Hyeronimus Bosch and many other painters/sculptors. Having mild synaesthesia music has shapes, textures and colors so I'll name Mike Patton as well.
I found Shadowness through my friend Faeriedivine who's also here ♥
Thank you very much for everything and have a smashing weekend! :D
Hi everyone!Nice to meet you!
My name is Joanna and I ma a British illustrator/ artist based in Munich, Germany. I specialize in fairy and fantasy art, children’s and floral illustration. My main mediums of use are watercolours and coloured pencils.
My favourite artists are many, but start off with my childhood and the stories and rhymes told to me: Beatrix Potter, Cicely Mary Barker poems and her ‘Flower Fairies’ and naturally, classic Disney animation and their happy colours and characters!
. When I went to Art & Design Uni in Surrey, England, I became fascinated with mythology and the Victorian art era, with artists such as Arthur Rackham, and all of the Pre-Raphaelite artists and their romantic and magical paintings depicting scenes from myth, legend and folklore. They made my imagination soar and that is what I like to think I achieve when people view my art work. And to keep me challenged and on my feet, like minded artists, such as Linda Ravenscroft, Brian Froud, James Browne and many more who inspire me…
I was introduced to Shadowness.com through an invite by Katerinaart(also a member here) and am glad to be here and get such support and feedback!
I have opened up an Etsy shop http://www.JoannaBromleyArt.etsy.com and hope to start selling (as well as my originals), fine art prints of my illustrations, 3 available as I write, and broaden my products range. Apart from that I will carry on illustrating, doing contests and private commission work and hope to be published one day and see MY work in the childrens book departments when I walk past! Thanks!

Hullo, my name is Øyvind, from Norway. I'm 20 years old, I do photography and digital paintings, mostly. So far I studied art for three years, had a one year photography class. In the fall I'm starting a 2 year 3D Game Design study, hopefully with a bachelor the third year.
My favourite artists for the moment are Dan Luvisi, he does precisely what I've always wanted to achieve in my paintings. And lately I've been loving Jaime Ibarra's photography. Also big fan of James Nachtwey's photos.
I don't actually quite recall how I got here. I think I was just surfing around the internet and saw and ad or something for this place.
Two things, finish my colossus painting in time. And get enough money to replace my broken desktop computer, get a laptop that isn't failing and find a 70-200mm F4.0L lens. Having only the 17-40mm makes me feel a bit limited. And still afford moving in with my girl in August.
Other than that I just want to say thanks for the great reception I got here :]
Oyvind, It sounds like you're going to be working hard this summer!
Jun 3rd, 2011Hi guys! my name is Kristy but I go by the artist name KDLIG (kay-dee-league). I'm a filipino expat working in Dubai as an illustrator for an Ad Agency. I started as a traditional artist, sketching using pencil, pen and ink, then did some oil paintings before and eventually switched to acrylic. I've been doing vectors since I started working as a graphic artist, learning from my colleagues, and from there I started to experiment on my own style.
I have a lot of favorite artists, there's no particular one, and mostly they are surrealism artists such as Salvador Dali and Frida Khalo, and pop-surrealism artists like Tara McPherson, Audrey Kawasaki, James Jean, Alex Pardee and more.
I got here through liking one of Hana's work http://shadowness.com/hanabacasno/
This summer, I will be going back to Dubai soon, and be back to work again, I'm currently on vacation right now here in the Philippines. I'm also going to work on more personal stuff as well, that's going to be my goal for this summer =D
Hello Everyone!
I'm Carol Moore and I am a color pencil artist from Carlton, Oregon. I have been working with color pencil since 1983 and consider myself mainly a self-taught artist. Jun 4th, 2011 Shadowness StaffHi! I'm glad to be here - the longer I'm here, the more I like it. Here's my mini-bio!
♥ Who are your favorite artists?
I was inspired by many artists throughout my life, but my all-time favorite is Joseph M. W. Turner, followed closely by Bierdstadt and Cole of the Hudson River School, and then my contemporary longtime friend and painter, Daniel Alekow. I enjoy many different types of art, however, and find myself constantly enjoying contemporary and classical masters alike.
♥ How did you find Shadowness?
I found shadowness through /JurgenDoe , who has always been so kind and helpful to people, and especially me.
♥ What is your biggest goal for the summer?
My biggest goal this summer is to help my boyfriend Mark beat his own land speed world record for fastest naturally aspirated sit-on motorcycle. He currently holds the record at 252 mph. You can read all about last year's run here: http://www.myntifresh.com/?p=1276
So, my goal is to help him test and tune and get the bike ready, drive across the country with truck and trailer, pit crew for him as he sets a new record with a smaller engine class, and come home safe and sound! It seems a tall order I guess, but we did it last year without a hitch, so I think it is possible! :D
lol mynti, that looks like a ton of fun! Good luck!
Jun 4th, 2011First at allll!!! Thank you so much for your support... I just join about from three days, and i continue say that i never have an amazing "Welcome" like other community!
That's simply great! I love this friendly place!
Now... Here i am!!!
My name is Stefania Russo and i'm from Italy!
When I was child, I started drawing for fun, fashion plates, dividing all the books by theme and color. Later, I attended a fashion school, given my love for designing clothes, but I left this world, leaving the total space to the illustration, after experiencing the wonderful world of comics, from fantasy, and, of course, music (highly inspirational).
I am self-taught artist, constantly looking to improve... And in the mad desire to experiment!
But in truth, i simply love to drawing... And it is my reason of life!
My art is all in traditional!
I used mixed media... From watercolors to colored pencils, from ecoline to glitters!
I called my art "Illusory Art", due to my constant search for a fantasy world through the visual arts... And, I admit, cause I really like the meaning of the word "illusory" for various reasons, for me!
Now, run to aswer the three question of this articleee! :D
--Who are your favorite artists?
My first favourite artist is Gerald Brom: http://www.bromart.com/
I love his visionary and original art! I love his courage to draw monsters (i know is a silly thing, ops)!
For second, i love Luis Royo: http://www.luisroyo.com/
I love his style, and (another stupid thing), i learn a lot from his artbook and words!
--How did you find Shadowness?
Thanks to Katerina: http://shadowness.com/KaterinaArt/
She's really so nice to invite me, and continue help e support me... I always so spechless for it!
Thank you!!!!
--What is your biggest goal for the summer?
Hmmmmm.. Ehm.... Boh!
In truth i just only wish to remain in peace, far from job, and drawing a lot of unfinished works, like art-trades.... Damn, i really hate this poor free time!!! ^^'''
In this time i'm an "artist in search of myself", because i try a new style of colors and drawing, so i hope to improve more and more...
And i've some plans in my mind *secret* for grow as artist.... But i don't tell nothing just for "good luck"!
And, another goal is to speack with english people. I need to talk in english, because my pronunciation is reaaaaaalllly bad... Also for made my "secret" plains, ahahahhaa!
I just install Skype, and.... Uh uh... If someone has the patient to talk with a scary English pronunciation... Here i am! XDDD
That's all... Thank for the patient to read it, ahahahhaha!
*big hug to all*
Its great to meet you all! Mynti, when you get close to leaving and feel like a rest stop, when You get near cleveland, just give me a shout, and You can stop by for beer, refreshments, a real clean bathroom, etc. if you like. :)
Kalos, I hope you have a great time in the wilderness and bring back some awesome shots!
Thanks for all the information on the artists, guys! I'll have some homework this week for certain!
Hi guys! I am Nadia. 22. I live in good ol' Oklahoma with my husband of 2 years. I enjoy reading, cooking, fitness, video games, & photography. Regarding art, I originally started with graphic design and web design at the age of 11. I taught myself just for fun. Then in high school, I HAD to take a photography class. I actually did very badly in the class, but I enjoyed every second of it! And eventually my knowledge of photoshop helped me turn ordinary pics into works of art. It was exciting! And things just grew from there.
Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, John Shaw, Joe McNally, & Annie Leibovitz are just some of my favorite photogs. Also many of YOU here and on deviantart are my favorites
and are the ones who initially inspired me to dive into photography, and continue to influence me daily.
The lovely, talented Famz introduced me to Shadowness and encouraged me join.
This summer, I mostly just want to move to a new apartment with a washer and dryer! But I also would like to practice some portrait & nature photography. And hopefully acquire a decent wide angle lens.
my name is harry wicaksono, You can call me papay, from Indonesia, I was 23th,
My favorite artist? actually I'm not too fanatic with a person as an artist, menurutsaya all works great in my opinion, would I make reference.
I know shadowness from my friend, and I was intrigued with the look and the works there.
my plan this summer, is preparing for my graduation and looking for work for my future, my favorite work of course, such as drawing, painting and dancing/bboying ^ ^
Great to meet you, Papay!
