started a topic: Bugs? Feedback?
I'd like to keep this topic active for everyone to report bugs / usability / loading issues.
On a side note, I fixed the biggest loading problem that has plagued us since the Shadowness 8 launch. It was a mod-rewrite script that replaces "images not found" by a default avatar. This single bug was the reason why our sweet launch was interrupted for 20 mins, and for the site for NOT loading for minutes, or even close to an hour almost every day since.
There will be new skins, new customization features and improvements in the stability. I'd like to ask everyone to stay patient as I roll out many of the features we loved from the previous versions. Of course, you are free to request by participating. That is the best way to restore the community to its former glory and seek expansion for the site to find success.
7Shadows Yes, the image upload process is when you choose the picture file, before you submit. If it doesn't upload, maybe try again. Usually it will tell you an error if there is one.

started a topic: Clairvoyance Questionaire
I've been thinking about clairvoyance lately, so I wanted to ask around with this little questionaire.
1. What is your definition of clairvoyance, and do you believe in its existence? Why/Why not?
2. How many other people do you know (real life/online) have clairvoyance? Is it a common trait? Do more men than women have it? Children than adults? Or have you not met anyone with clairvoyance?
3. If you do have clairvoyance, how long have you had it? Have you developed it at all, and if so, how far have you developed it? If not, why not?
+ For the believers
4. What kind of things do you "see" when using clairvoyance? That you cannot see?
5. How accurate/clear is it? Can you (or a person you may know who has it) control it or does it just happen irregularly?
6. Are there different types of clairvoyance, or are all "types" basically the same/fall under the same category?
7. What are the limitations, if any?
+ For the non-believers
8. What are your opinions on clairvoyance?
9. How would you explain clairvoyance? Chance? Pure luck?
10. Has anyone claimed to have "seen" you while using clairvoyance? What were your opinions if so?

Hi, I'm new here, and I was just wondering if there were any rules considering nudity, etc... I was trying to find information on it in the FAQ but it didn't really have anything. I just wanted to make sure before I post something and ended up getting in trouble for it, thanks! ^_^

started a topic: how do I get started?
I've been considering Looking for work/commissions. In your opinion how do I go about it. Up until now I've been a little bit apprehensive about doing it because I've never been seriously interested in doing art for a living. However, I have been recently thinking that I might do it as an additional form of income. (I'm trying to raise money to visit my family in another country)
The only thing I'm not sure about is what am I getting myself into? What am I to expect? Do I need to add stronger pieces to my gallery/portfolio? And how do I get started?
**sorry about the vague topic subject I could think of anything else more direct**

started a topic: Oppinion on 22" LCD Monitors
Well meng once suggested to get rid of my old 17" dell CRT and so i will, but then what to get?
So i thought of a good cheap 22" widescreen lcd and 2 names came along Samsung's 226BW and Asus MW221U.
Both go around the same price with a 30€ difference being the asus the cheapest, but which one is the best?
I'm already leaning towards 226BW i've seen it and i like it but i never seen the asus one in my life, so what are your oppinions? Anyone has tried both or any of them?
-------------------------------
Got it and looks awesome, none of the A's problems so far :D
Matt
I don't think there is Samsung manufactured models on the market anymore. They used the fact that 226BW had a great reputation to put a new cheaper to produce model on the market. As you can guess, the new model is bad. I hate Samsung for the fact that they didn't change the model number after doing that and I don't believe we will see the Samsung manufactured model again.
Here it is for my piece of advice.
DGangJ
although compared to asus it would still be a good choice it seems...
a friend of mine got one a ocuple months ago and has no problems at all.. i just hope i'm that lucky.

Yo
I need some help with a illustrator thing.. i want to make text (characters) into objects. Like.. just turning the text into object.. *headache*
Please tell me on how to do this if you know..
Tricks Goto Object>Rasterize. and Bingo the text is now an object ;)
Jul 18th, 2007Martin Mjah was not the exact thing i was looking for, i want it to become an object in the way that the letters becomes an object for itself, like.. you got this letter "H" and then it will be those dots around the letter, gah hard to explain but i mean if you razterize the text becomes object yes but the letters will still just be connected and the objects form will be a big square around it all and not just around each letter.. if you know how i mean, i seriously can't understand what im typing but yeah.. :P

started a topic: Your top favourite art style and why
What's your aboslute favourite art style and how come you find it so "attractive"? Might be a tricky question but there's always some reason if you dig deep!
wishingstar
it's hard to decide, because my theory sometimes comflicted. and i actually have favoriteS =)
my ultimate favorite will be Yoshitaka Amano's art style. it's very soft, loose, expressive, random and exploding (only word i can find) but it really brings out the character. i really like the way he thinks and puts character, how they are all curvy, elongated. it's really wonderful.
some styles to my liking are the gothish-like kinda like
http://www.fscwasteland.com/
type of thing.
not too over the top though.. it has to be suttle.
another one would be
http://www.cafesale.net/bengal/gallery_color.php3
generally, i am drawn to these style if they are done well. just have to say that i really hate the hybrid of (cliche)-japan-anime and US comic hybrid or what a lot of comic artists trying to adapt. and i'll stop at that, cuz it's my favorite not least

started a topic: Photoshop woes, oh noes! [Window trouble]
Y'know how sometimes when you're working on something eventually the image window seems to sneak up near the top and you can't seem to drag it back down again?
I found a nice way to remedy that problem:
hit CTRL+0 [as in the number zero]
That's the hotkey for making a file fit the workspace.

started a topic: What softwares?
Hey, i'd like to hear what softwares do you use to make your art and what would you recommend to new aspiring artists in different fields: 3D, painting, photography, web design, animation etc.
DarkPsychosis
Um ... Paper, Pencil, Ink, Paint .... and then trusty old Photoshop.
Never really got the feel for sketching in software.
GEAR-CX I recommend Alias Sketch Pro (or I suppose the Autodesk equivalent nowadays) for those wanting drawing applications. As for 3d, I'd say Blender 3d works very well since it is free and relatively simple. Also, for those beginning 3d, I'd say that Blender works well because if you decide that 3d is not for you later on in your course of usage, it's not a waste of $300

started a topic: The good recommendations
It can be a rough time during the process of learning an art style, there's so many questions and yet so few answers written in stone. What can make you motivated, where do you start and what shall you focus on in order to get the most effecient outcome of whatever you may do.
In this thread, recommendations are at the caketop, write one sentence that YOU may think will be valueable for people who's in the need of good tips.
The tips does not have to be obvious, whatever you feel helps you in your situations, share it to the rest. You never know who it may have effect on.
DGangJ That's so true = specially when you're working with website layouts ¬_¬
Jun 19th, 2007Ssquared I browse or I go out :D watching people is fun! and talking to them is even funner. Sometimes, I'll go buy random little things like toys, stuffed animals, or patterned paper and I'll look at them. I love everything that's colorful and they're definitely inspirational.
