WHY I AM NOT A PAINTER I am not a painter, I am a poet. Why? I think I would rather bea painter, but I am not. Well, for instance, Mike Goldbergis starting a painting. I drop in ”Sit down and have a drink” he says. I drink; we drink. I look up. “You have SARDINES in it.””Yes, it needed something there.””Oh.” I go and the days go byand I drop in again. The paintingis going on, and I go, and the daysgo by. I drop in. The painting isfinished. “Where’s SARDINES?”All that’s left is justletters, “It was too much,” Mike says. But me? One day I am thinking ofa color; orange. I write a lineabout orange. Pretty soon it is awhole page of words, not lines. Then another page. There should beso much more, not of orange, ofwords, of how terrible orange is and life. Days go by. It is even inprose, I am a real poet. My poemis finished and I haven’t mentionedorange yet. It’s twelve poems, I callit ORANGES. And one day in a galleryI see Mike’s painting, called SARDINES. Perchè non sono un pittore Non sono pittore, sono poeta.Perché? Forse preferirei essere pittore, ma non lo sono. Ad esempio, Mike Goldbergsta iniziando un quadro. Vado a trovarlo ”Siediti e bevi qualcosa” dice Bevo, beviamo. Guardo in alto. “Ci hai scritto SARDINE.””Sì, lì ci mancava qualcosa.””Ah.” Me ne vado, passano i giornie ritorno. Il quadrova avanti; me ne vado, passano i giorni. Ritorno. Il quadro èfinito. “Dov’è SARDINE?”Resta solo qualche lettera, “era troppo pieno,” dice Mike. E io? Passano i giorni. È perfino in prosa, sono un vero poeta. La poesiaè finita e non ho ancora nominatol’arancio. Sono dodici poesie, le chiamoARANCE. E un giorno in una galleriavedo il quadro di Mike intitolato SARDINE. Dec 15thI am a freelance artist and am currently open for commissions. My commissions information can be found here: http://wist-aria.deviantart.com/journal/Commissions-254295830 I attended John Brown University with a major in Illustration, hoping to start a career as a book illustrator. My art has been exhibited in the Texarkana Four States Fair, the Cossatot Arts and Crafts Association (CACA) Art Show, the Nashville Elberta Arts Center, and is currently on display at the Town Square Gallery in Murfreesforo, AR. Follow the Rails won best of show in the Landscapes with Structure division as well as the People’s Choice award at the CACA Art Show. My first love in art was horses and I still hold a fondness for them. However, my interests have broadened to incorporate the human figure, portraits, and landscapes, as well as anything that tells a story. ~D~

Feb 26th, 2010I'm 27 years old and of Laotian nationality. More about me: I fell in love with art since I was a child. Art has always been my strong subject at school. Sailor moon was my first inspiration to draw manga style. I have not posted my old works yet -- perhaps another day. Secondly, Final Fantasy (VII-VIII-X-XII-XIII) was my inspiration for digital art and fantasy characters. Recently, I have been in love with photography. I have a thirst for improvement. Hobby: I spend most of my time on online forums (mostly about One Piece), read manga online, do photography, drawing, watching anime and watch Asian drama. You can also follow me at http://aki001.deviantart.com Thank you for stopping by and have a nice day!

Apr 11th, 2011Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.
