First piece done for the Experience the Planets project http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://www.experiencetheplanets.com/ lead by Greg Martin himself. This piece took more than a month of sketching planing painting and re-painting with the amazing crit and input from all ETP artists and mainly Greg himself, the learning experience was priceless and the result was very satisfying. Done from scratch 100% pure photoshop.

Like Phobos at Mars, Triton's low orbit
around its parent planet will result in its
destruction some 3.6 billion years in the future.
How exactly it will meet its end is still a matter of debate.
Some speculate that the moon will succumb to increasing gravitational stress, leaving a path of debris along its orbit
as it disintegrates to form a new - albeit temporary- ring formation around Neptune.
