Kalliope Amorphous is an artist whose primary body of work has evolved into an exploration of the conceptual self-portrait photograph as a catalyst for exploring ideas of identity, gender, archetype and myth. Her work ranges from interpretations of pre-existing iconography to compositions meant purely to provoke and challenge perceptions and first impressions. Kalliope on her work: “I am not a photographer or a narcissist. I am an artist with a camera. I want to push the boundaries of what I define as “self” and “other” by playing with ideas of identity, emotion and the various visual interpretations and possibilities that exist within them.” Self-taught in photography, Kalliope takes an intuitive approach to composition and lighting and works without the aid of professional lighting or studio equipment. Makeup, costuming, photography, and post processing are all self-created. Kalliope is a recipient of the 2010 Julia Margaret Cameron award for self-portraiture photography. She has exhibited and published her work throughout the United States and internationally.

Ive lived in Canada for all of my natural life in a neat apartment in the heart of Mississauga. Although a resident of the area I was born at St. Josephs Hospital (located in Toronto) and was also brought up there in my early ages while I lived in Mississauga. I plan to move out to Barrie at the end of high school to prepare myself for College and enjoy the winter weather. Some may ask why Barrie? (For those of you who dont know its a growing city with a population 1/5th of Mississaugas) I say its because of the job opportunities of all the businesses springing up, for the 10+ feet of snow they receive annually, or maybe its just to gain my own independence away from both parents but either way its a city Im interested in.

well, im 17. i do abstract digital art. im in training to be a graphic designer. I go to private school and try to stay active. I play Soccer, Hockey, Tennis, Golf, and i freestyle ski. ive attended RISD pre-college for graphic design in 07, and spend a lot of time doing art that i should spend working and making money. but thats to be expected, right?
