Inspired by Are you There by Anathema.
Really made me think about all the feelings that are provoked by the absence of someone you really love. A feeling of your heart being entangled in a sort of hopelessness by their lack of presence. A feeling of really needing the person there.
Enjoy,

another cool work from you. i do believe the contrast is a big exaggerated on the subject versus the rest. the chains are + perspective distance aren't very realistic as well. but good work overall. i like it.

Jul 20th, 2007 ReplyI probably should have explained better in the description. I'm really lazy when it comes to that. (My bad.)
But the image above him is not necessarily supposed to be realistic. They represent his memories and and how he is "entangled" to them. Ugh, I have this long story behind it but lol, I'm too damn lazy to do it right now. I've done a few times already. I think I'll just be uber efficient by using the magic of copy and paste. =)
Forgive me if it's too formal. This is the description I used for a magazine submission.
This image really made me think about all the feelings that are provoked by
the absence of someone you really love. A feeling of your heart being
entangled in a sort of hopelessness by their lack of presence. A feeling of
really needing the person there. The idea that as long as they are apart
from you, you become a puzzle with a missing piece. A piece that, unless
connected to you, does not fully define your entire whole. It may seem
strange needing someone so strongly that you end up more than just loving
them but they become a part of everything in your life. They are the essence
behind your passion, inspiration and sense of fulfillment. Everything you do
is caused be the energies that are provoked by this person.
In my art piece, the wires that entangle the man connect up towards images
of trees, houses and water. They represent the memories of the other person
that are so closely valuable to his heart. It helps keep his foot on the
ground and his spirit touching the sky, remembering that the separateness of
his most beloved is never without love and joy. Ultimately, these precious
thoughts and memories keep his heart sane and his soul alive.
