A while back I discovered a band called "Porcupine Tree" -- and to me they (mainly the head guy, Steven Wilson) are pure musical genius. I have since gone on to become a huge fan, own most of their records on vinyl, along with other collectables. I love them, and SW.
I was just drawing in my sketchbook while listening to their album "Fear of a Blank Planet" and couldn't help but be inspired by their music... and this just came out.
This piece is essentially my interpretation of the album "Fear of a Blank Planet" and the central concept behind the entire album.
Here is a video of the title track that pretty much explains it all http://www.last.fm/music/Porcupine+Tree/+videos/+1-efsm6aJPybg
Here's a link to the full lyrics of the title track http://www.lyred.com/lyrics/Porcupine+Tree/Fear+of+a+Blank+Planet/Fear+of+A+Blank+Planet/
If you watch the video and/or read the lyrics you will understand this piece.
I did this with pencil, charcoal, chalk, and ink. I then added some color to the scanned file using Photoshop.
This piece sort of got me back into doing art after a long unproductive period. All because of the power of music :)
PS: The recent riots in London really reminded me of this album. It's a total fit for what the youth over there were doing.

Totally radical work! Love the entire concept from musical inspiration to maddened Cockneys crumbling London Bridge.
