WATERCOLOR SKETCH

3" x 5" Watercolor Pencil on Canson Watercolor Paper (Rough)

"Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do."— Edgar Degas

I enjoy using watercolor pencils more than the regular ones in tubes or pans, I felt I have more control over it. The new Derwent Watercolor Pencils are definitely better than the hard and sticky old formula. I used a small nylon brush to work the colors around and add some finishing touches using Caran d'ache Supracolor II (dry). Since I've no time to stretch the paper, I just glued it to a mat board to prevent it from buckling, works well so far for this small size.

My Enneagram [link] result says that I work better under stress, I guess there's some truth in it. Heavy rains caused a knee deep flood in our house that left my work area in disarray, I've secured all my supplies though before the waters came in, but I have OCD and I'm easily rattled and stressed out when things are not in their proper places. Furthermore, I need to finish in a hurry and worry next about framing it. Not exactly my cup of tea, I'd like to work in a more leisurely pace but stress did me some good, I've finished it much faster than I would've under normal conditions.

A birthday gift for one of the "Princess of BONI." Hoped you liked it Princess Wenchie.
