7" x 5" Colored Pencil on Watercolor Paper

"The artist finds a greater pleasure in painting than in having completed the picture. "
— Lucius Seneca

24th of December 2010, while everyone was busy for Nanay's birthday party out on the yard, I was in the house working on this piece throughout the night. I've been working on it several hours a day cherishing every single moment of it—ecstasy. This is my first colored pencil project.

Lovely work. I love the tones. You have a good technique. The apple on top of the pile seems a bit more narrow on the bottom right side than is indicated by the rest of the fruit. Also, next to that apple, there seems to be a floating stem. The edges of the picture have more blank space compared to the rest. You may want to consider painting outside the lines, by placing a spare sheet of paper below the one you are working on, and going past the edge. Finally, you may want to further define the difference between the shadow and the contour of the pot by using darker colors near the edge. Overall, great still life.

Thank you for taking time to look at my work :-)

My drawing skills are really poor right now after a long hiatus and CP is a totally new medium for me. I don't have any books about CP so I decided to learn as I draw.

Working beyond the area is one thing I've learned and have corrected in my other works. I just wished I had known it earlier :-D

I tried to get more colors in but it was too late for any remedies, colored pencil is very unforgiving, once the paper is saturated you can't add anything anymore. A really hard lesson, but at least I've learned.

Thank you so much for the suggestions, I'll try my best to improve on my drawing skills.
