I'll be going out to the Somerset Levels in the next few weeks, as Starlings, from all over Europe, come there to roost for the winter. There have been over 1,000,000 recorded there, and the skies vibrate to the sound of their wings. It's like an express train flying over you.

The birds will be there 'till around March, when they start migrating back for Spring. Some of the flocks darken the sky for minutes on end, so it's going to be quite a job. I'm just hoping I can do the starlings justice

in Scotland, i saw a flock of wild geese.... about 40.... they rested on the ground, when i came along... they flew in big cicles.... it was magic....
