Not being able to do my own stuff made me ridiculously cranky for the past while. So I pretty much finished colouring a sketch I did over the summer ^^:

This lovely young lady here is Tsubame, Kagoshima no Tsubame from a pseudo-Meiji era Japan. Of course in an alternate universe.
[I got her name from a Japanese train line. *bricked.]
Despite her outlandish appearance, she's a self-styled "master of sumi-e" and occasionally dabbles in erotic ukiyo-e when she receives requests from desperate noble housewives.
Being the lovechild of an English pirate and a sake merchant's daughter, Tsubame was secretly given away to a distant relative. She was shipped off to a calligraphy artist on Kagoshima who lives with opium-smoking western culture-loving philosophers.
Having been raised by eccentrics, Tsubame grew up having one ambition: to create the biggest wall scroll in Japan, written in ENGLISH and then hang it on Mount Fuji! Whenever Tsubame is buzzed on alcohol, she claims her eyes can see through time into the future and often incorporates what she sees into her work.
Ok that's enough crack backstory for this original character for now LOL.

What's written on the back is roughly translated to:
"My brush is mighter than your sword!"
Graphic design isn't really my field of expertise per se, but I hope the more I do something like this the more I can get used to it.
I couldn't really decide which version to go with so I put up both. What do you guys think?

Looking cool Jessie, love your style as usual, although the size is big you've managed to fill up the spaces nicely, definetly a good feel to it, cool character of course, i like the tatoos and the hair the fade of the tatoo at the chest is however a minus but heck who cares. Love the brush and the way he holds it as a weapon, what can i say, i like it, good job on the coloring, they match eachothers very good
