Heartless by ascenciok

by ascenciok in Fantasy Art

She cut out her cold heart attempting to eliminate the pain and resentment over her lost love that time has not healed. Fixed at the window, she foolishly remains hopeful he will someday return.

Her pain almost makes me cry...

The guy that bought the painting seemed to be convinced I was deeply depressed and that's why I painted her. It was actually done for a contest on Deviantart with a Frozen Beauties theme. I figured instead of making her literally frozen I would made her more cold from pain and loss. I wanted to make it more where she was frozen in time by the window convincing herself he would return. I think darker themes are much more relatable for most people than happy ones. My main goal is to have the viewer feel or connect to my paintings and it's a huge compliment to me knowing I pulled it off.

I feel connected and deeply touched when I viewed this elegant piece of art you created. I always am drew in dark themes but some people just don't understand the beauty of darkness. Someone told me "I don't know what to say, I just can't help to start to worrying about you" after he viewed my work "Not Breathing". I was upset when I realized that there're still many people can't be honest with themselves but simply believe in what they want to - darkness is unhealthy.

I'm sure most people worry about me as well. Not only do I paint darker themes, but the majority of it is females with little to no clothing. I think the anatomy of the female body is beautiful, but that doesn't mean I have any attraction to them. I find females are usually much better at expressing emotions than males. Plus it helps that if I need to reference a certain body part I can't make out properly in my main reference photo or would like to change, I have the same body parts. Female hands don't cut it when you are painting a male. I don't worry much about people with negative opinions of my work based on the darkness or the nudity. As you said, I feel bad for them. I find it hard to believe people are that narrow minded to really think it's sick of me to paint tasteful, artistic nudity or that something must be seriously wrong with me for bringing up death in a painting.

This one was for a contest on another art site frozen beauties, so I wanted to make her not so much freezing cold rather cold from the lack of a heart. Also frozen in time a bit constantly watching the window.

I've just had a lot of practice. My bad paintings from when I 1st started painting are hidden in my closet for noone to see :)

Someone really should have a word with time about neglecting his heart healing responsibilities. I have often had to file a similar complaint.

This one I did for a frozen beauties contest on another art site. Rather the make her literally frozen, I decided to make her frozen in sorrow and time by the window.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought about frozen like that before. I really like the idea of frozen beauty. Now my brain is buzzing with ideas too. hmm
