I want to start on wondering son. The series last i heard skipped some parts, but it is fantastic all the same. Its almost not surprising that this Genre is taken on an issue that most in the west are still way too dumb to even consider the question, let alone answer with concise points.
Maybe the Genre is smarter than the fans that watch the series. Maybe in one sense thats a good thing.
But one think i think the genre is suffering from and its from the lack of care and consideration of what a human being does, but what he creates - is the Crunchyroll situation.
Folks, Crunchyroll is not the favored son, or new face of the anime industry - it has become just like many of the major banks have become - white collar criminals.
Let me explain how this was done.
Crunchyroll, Netflix, Amazon (as of late) and in recent years YouTube all suffer from a issue stemming back from the 1996 Telecommunications Act. It was promised that the major telcocoms would promise true broadband speed.
The telcocoms balked and lied to the governments face. This is the reason why a majority of the US wired system is near stone age levels, and will take 20 to 50 years to get it to even Japan's level and possibly never close to South Koreas.
Its one of the small reasons why we have the DotCom bubble burst in 1999-2001 and why we had a bandwidth issue around the same time.
It wasn't until 2002 when the telcoms started upgrading their services (part of the reason why they didnt do it before is because they didn't have the know how) and the internet slowly got back up with the bandwidth being increased five fold.
For a while, companies like Youtube and Stage 6 could make some headway.
The only problem came up when Crunchyroll and later Netfilx came in the fray.
I dont want to go into too many details. But the internet, cannot and will not take so many connections at one time. Its a 45 year old technology modded to the nth degree.
So given the fact the internet is like this...
And given the fact Crunchyroll and others like it came out of the censoring policies of not only 4Kids Entertainment, but Saban and DIC's as well?
Why would a company - a venture capitalist company - who was created by the Rockfellers, help this company that stole work from animators living on almost slave wages to prop up an industry who have been forced by the very suspect TV industry over there to the margins - while at the same time a senator with the very same name goes about destroying the American animation industry with the E/I requirement?
Time to make up your minds on who cared about the Genre. For real.
Because I take no shit from some fly by night sons of bitches who think they got some command of the English language - they can try and retrofit Japanese in order to keep the "madness" of the genre with honorrifcs to keep it pure.
It isn't pure.
Its just another form of the insanity that has effected every single aspect of the Art realm for nearly 40 years
Now, let me explain why this is so.
Animation is the most powerful genre mankind has ever invented. For nearly 60 or so years its has been pushed to the margins unless there is some sort of laugh track on it (or may people laugh)
There is nothing wrong with that.
There has been however a denial of other types of emotions - such as fear, revolution, rebellion - love and honesty - Truth, Justice, Honor and Loyalty.
Certain people in this world want man to lose his soul in the collective.
Anime at certain times in animation history broke this mode - despite the creators culture of collective mindsets.
And for many in the old guard in the north american/Occidental industry - it scares the shit out of them.
But let me get one thing clear - and I still believe some aspects of this.
The genre is not the end all, be all of animation. The fact that many female artisans use it as the one and only crux for there art work (wether its in a photoshoot or in a drawing) its not only a failure in their part from not being what they say they are - creators - but a failure in whole mass of artistic intellgenicia in the United States in particular.
But the major reason why we have this issue - is because that the american industry has been game theory'd from here and back. Every five years the business restarts. Toys come and go. In anime there wasn't as such. Its about the sakgua. The wildness. The rebellion from pagan desires (The Monster Girls and Queen's Blade) to issues many animators refuse, cannot and may never confront unless dictated by the Government on the basis of social education.
It is my hope that recent returns of the Transformers, Gi-Joe, Thundercats, the TMNT, Voltron and all the other franchises returning or finding new homes do not fall into the trap that killed or hampered the Saturday Morning linups of the past - or many shows that had something but none of the spark that brought us - as children, to these genres.
My dissolution comes from the fact that there are those at the higher ups in the media around the planet who are scared the fuck shitless about what is about to happen in this world.
And if they can put anime to the margins, they can hold it off.
And if they can get japanese artists who are no better than lets just be honest: Pedo-Cons and Porn-Hacks, as a pycholohical operation (PSY-OP) to destroy the Genre from within, but the actual artists (not connected to the old guard) to be shut out...
...in order for the TV business over there to be "right" on the assertions of this genre - they can hold it off.
To have a racist, bigoted mayor of a major metropolitan city who, has taken kick backs from the Yakuza dealing with scandals going back several decades, dealing with match fixing in Sumo/MMA/Baseball, knowing hes going to get caught - used this Genre as a COVER to protect his image of a Moralist.
...and to say it was the right thing for the children of that nation, those that they have no future for...they can hold it off.
But i tell you.
They cannot hold it off.
Because folks, its going to change. And it starts by telling the truth about Crunchyroll.
There nothing more than white collar criminals, funded by hypocritical venture capitalists.
Until that is said, nothing else will change.
It will just get worse until it becomes another version of the music industry - outsiders produce better, where one inside of it cant even say the star spangled banner correctly.
