Yorkie - Blazzing Worlds
This is my first piece that i have done in a very long time, i felt like i needed to do one so i went back to my space pic's just to get me back in the swing of things. I've tried something new with this piece which was to focus mainly on the nebula.

I think this is my 1st time iv actually properly tried it out, and i feel quite happy about, some bits still need work but im happy with the overall result and will work a bit more on it next time i do one.

Any comments giving advice or crits would be greatly appreciated.

Yorkie - Surfacing
Right, this is experiment, pretty much finally finished, took about 3-4 hours to make spread over about 3 days, doing a bit each day.

I have had a bit of assistance/guidance with this one, as it is quite a bit more detailed and advanced than my previous work, so i would like to thank Ruairdridh for crits of this piece as it was being created, nd also Alukarl, for his slight guidance :P lol.

I am very pleased with this piece, this style of star scape is very new to me, and i think that it has been a big improvement for my work. Also whats new is the lens flare, which works really well with the colour of the scene, and helps to keep the realism of the overall image.

I am definatly going to do some more of these star scapes, i have gained inspiration and new techniques. Thanks once again to those that helped.

any more comments or crits will still be appreciated and taken into account for my next piece :)

  • Ruairdridh Ooohh big crit I just notices. Unless that star is physically that small and touching the planet...the other planet on the left of the image should not be lit up at all like that.

  • Yorkie yeah, i was trying 2 make it so that it was.......actually, that doesn't really make any sense, i was originally trying 2 make it behind the light source, so it was more lit up on the front, but the planet is way too big to do that realistically.

Yorkie - Experiment
This is an experiment in working with this style of space scape and also this kind of lighting from a lens flair. It's still not quite finished but starting to get there, but i would still like a few more thoughts and feelings before i start to finish this piece.
any crits and advice would be greatly appreciated

  • Ruairdridh No the problem with the flatness isnt the shadow its the texture...the stripes and streaks don't seem to wrap around the sphere they seem to just be on there flat from side to side.

  • Yorkie yeah, well, iv improved a finished it now, you can see the final version in the next pic 'Surfacing'.

Yorkie - Black Hole
Iv been wanting to make a space image with a black hole in it for quite a while now, and i have tried once before in the past and failed. So i took the spare time that i had (1hour and a half ) and produced this.

Kind of kept it fairly simple with one colour throughout the image, and i brought back the meteors :D

Yorkie - Painfull Transformation
In a world where demons live in the same as your own, you can't afford to take the wrong root home, specially at night. Unfortunately for this guy, he has taken the wrong path, and is taking the consequences. When slowly turning into a demon, there is nothing you can do, but pray that someone finds you, and has the balls to try and save your from turning, because once you have, you can never go back!!

Some say that it is often well worth the transformation, painful, but worth it. Now you get to see his pain through his own eyes.

This is my first surreal image that i have produced, and quite frankly, i am gob smacked and amazed at what i have been able to produce, the 10 hours of work on Photoshop has been very tiring, but well worth it. The glowing veins are showing the transformation that is taking place, and looking through bloodshot eyes that are glowing yellow/orange, shows the transformation is affecting his whole body.

I included eyes in the background shadows, to symbolize that the demons are sat waiting for the transformation to complete itself before fully revealing themselves.

Like i said before, i am extremely pleased with this piece, and comments will be hugely appreciated as will advice and further tips on creating similar pieces.

  • Alukarl this reminds me of what happens to you in Painkiller when you OMNOMNOM 66 souls (the game with the gun that shoot sherikans and lightning). Needless to say, it ends badly for you enimies :P

To quote Team Fortess 2's heavy weapons guy:

    SO. MUCH. BLOOD!

Yorkie - Toxic
This was created from a Photoshop tutorial, creating a toxic wallpaper. Although i followed the same design steps, the imagery i used was different from that to the tutorial, i used toxic waste symbols and also created the flowing toxic glowing lines in the background.

The colour of this image, are very vibrant and hot, complimenting the theme of the image and i feel that the overlays worked well.

Yorkie - Tattoo
This is a fairly random tattoo design, similar to something that i would like to have one day on my back, except the bottom to point more to one spot in the middle and not be so wide.

Yorkie - Racing Reventon
As an experimented, i took an image of a Reventon and transformed one half of it into a racing version. I then decided to do the full job and do the entire car.

I feel that this image is still fairly unfinished, could do with a paint job with some racing sponsors and numbers.

Any comments will be appreciated on colour design for the car, and i am planning on doing another fairly soon if i have the time.

Yorkie

Yorkie - Evil Demon
This image was produced in a few free periods and a double graphics lesson at college when i got pretty damn bored, but i did end up using this image in a graphics piece so all the work produced in that double lesson was not wasted :P

I am pleased with the image, although looking back on it now, i feel it looks very much like a cartoon. I am therefore going to take an image fairly similar to this and make it as realistic as possible.

Any suggestions of wing shapes etc would be greatly appreciated.

Yorkie

Yorkie - Never Sleeps
I tried to keep this image fairly simple, mainly experimenting on the city lights on the darker side of planet . Iv kept the light strictly to one colour, to create a very warm mood to the image, showing heat on the planet.

This is my most recent space image, and i am very pleased with what was produced. It has inspired me to do more bigger, more detailed scenes using aspects of this image.

Yorkie

Yorkie - Planet Side
This is my 1st and only (so far) mixed media space scene. I created the landscape using Terragen and the used Photoshop to create the planet, stars and nebula at the top of the image.

Found this type of media very difficult to produce in a way that it works well and looks very effective. One thing i was pleased about was the sun just above the clouds, creating a great light source for the landscape and also the space around it.

Any comments or advice on how to produce good quality images fairly similar to this would be greatly appreciated, as every time i have tried to do another one of these since the production of this one, I've failed..........miserably :P

Yorkie

Yorkie - Distant
This is probably my personal favorite space pic that i have done so far, this is mainly because of the star field in the background (although it is very difficult to see on the pic featured on the site).

This pic is one of my earlier productions in this genre and i was very pleased with what was produced. The meteors in the image are a one off at the moment, but i feel that they have worked very well with the colour and mood of this image that i am hoping to use them again sometime in some later work.

Yorkie

Yorkie - Another Like Us
I tried going busy with this space scene, fairly large solar system with quite a few planets to surround it. I later added some space nebula but i feel that the way it surrounds the planets makes it slightly unrealistic.

Any comments (positive or crit) are welcome and also any suggestions that i could try out for the future would greatly be appreciated.

  • Ruairdridh Some critique I have on this is that it looks good overall. The best thing you can do with this and your other works is to use LARGER textures for your planets. That's why they don't look blended as well as it could be.

Yorkie

Yorkie - Another Life
This pic i made i feel wasn't as successful as the others, mainly due to the number of planets and the solar system being a slightly odd shape.

Some of the planets have worked well with the colour but there are some that don't quite fit in the image.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
