superb mate. I have a question here. you use smudge to blend most part of the flower right? when I use smudge it's really hard & slow, any setting to make it lighter on the computer?
May 25th, 2011 Reply www.GregoriusSuhartoyo.comWroth
I only used the smudge brush for the green mist, and for the center of the water drops - the flowers were done with the Brush tool only. First a hard brush design to block in all my lighting and so on. Secondly, a soft airbrush to smooth the hard edges of the first stage. The airbrush is a lot lighter on the computer than smudge, give that a try :] I use size tied to pen pressure and about 30% opacity on my airbrush to do that blending stage. Hope that helps

I feel really bad... I've seen this piece several times before but I always thought it was "just a photomanipulation". Now I have a new found respect for it and the work that has went into it.
May 19th, 2011 ReplyAmazing!

Hey Sharon :]
May 19th, 2011 ReplyDon't feel bad it happens a lot, goes to teach me it's not worth painting this kind of detail perhaps ;] I'm glad you like it now that you see it for what it is
ChewedKandi
Ow don't say that! When I vector I put so many details in it that you don't see them - it's all personal satisfaction. Is this a similar thing for yourself?
May 19th, 2011 ReplyWroth
In this case it was one of my first paintings and I felt I had a lot to prove in terms of realism. Like I had to earn the right to be sketchy by first proving I have the ability to do conservative realistic work. So I took this further than I would have wanted in terms of details, but I guess that is for my personal satisfaction as no one was putting that pressure on me other than myself. More recent work has been rougher in places on it and I enjoy that more I think

HA. Totally showed 'em.
May 5th, 2011 Reply katherine-cheng.comWas it tricky to set up the tutorial here?
Wroth
Can't keep a good tut down :]
May 5th, 2011 ReplyNo was not hard, Meng informed me IMG tags are allowed, you just have to host your own images. When I posted there was more of a size limit so those were thumbnails, looks like they enlarged it since then so click through is not even needed.

I am tempted to try! After I update the website, that is :P
