Shadowness - Thagirion I have a wide variety of interests. As far as art I enjoy working on my own characters and their stories. Don't know if it was Thagirion himself or if he sent some underling after him. Owen takes refuge in this room and just leans on this desk catching his breath and gathers his thoughts. He hates his fire. He wishes he had never gotten it. It doesn't hurt him but he feels it's ruined his life that was so perfect before it. He can't do normal things because of it so he had to develop his helmet and tanks to cover it up. He put his genius to use inventing that and the clear metal substance that his sword is also made of. But he hates that his gear draws the wrong kind of attention and people still stare at his fire, ask him stupid questions or whisper behind his back. So instead of being proud of his accomplishment he hates it too. But better that than having his fire be free. After a while he even started covering that up with the black bandana. He chose black because it's the best color to cover up the light from his flames. At night he's rather obvious. Not the kind of attention he likes. Notice on his left you can see his coat draped over the handle of his sword. He has to carry that everywhere for defense. He's alone and he doesn't like that but he wouldn't want to show weakness to anyone so he'd only get like this when alone. Also it's extremely rare for him to get like this. So that's why I called this a rare Moment of Weakness for him. If someone were to walk into the room he'd quickly compose himself. I finally decided to open it up and add the last of the colors and effects to it. Not bad. I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out. I imagine Thanatos at one of those laser tag places but he brought his real gun and is taking everyone out. Perhaps a rival company was having a game there. Yes he's holding his gun like a guitar as he jumps down. And he's giving the bird. He's really having fun with this. Alone he finds comfort in his two budgies. I'm very happy with this. I'm glad to have worked on something easy for a change. Done in two days. Any drawing that features Thagirion is instantly difficult piece. But he’s so worth it in the end. This is a sparring match between Thagirion and Sorath. It is not a real flight. They practice to keep their skills up for when they do wage war. Sorath has his Sun Staff and Thagirion his awesome battle axe. I’m very happy with how this turned out. I’m very pleased with the sun symbol end of Sorath’s staff. This is my Christmas card for 2011. I'm very proud of this drawing. I actually made the pencil drawing back in Dec of 2010. I then realized this would make a great card for 2011 and started working on it in November. Finally finished before the new year arrived. Just made the deadline. This is the same 80's bar you saw in The Four Bad Boys and May I Have This Dance drawings. Flare Enterprise and Thanatos Industries threw an end of the year party together. This bar is owned by Thanatos so it was no problem for them to reserve the whole place. You've got the two CEO's in the foreground. Jerone Thanatos cracking jokes and wearing a Santa hat as he talks to Davon Flare. In the background you have the two introverts Solan Rah and Prof. Jonathan Cope. Solan is VP of Flare Enterprise. He's not into parties so he brought his office work with him and is working on it. He's probably a week ahead of schedule but he still feels like he's behind. It's possible he's working on one of Davon's soul contracts. Jonathan Cope works for Thanatos Industries. He's not big on parties so he's probably playing a video game on his computers. Unlike Solan he wants to have fun at the party even though he doesn't want to interact with anyone. Then there's Dr. Owen F. Marsh. He's the biggest extrovert of all and on stage hamming it up. He wants all eyes on him though it seems he's only got Davon's subtle attention. Davon still wants his fire back. Love him or hate him no one can deny that Owen looks the best of everyone there. He has to out do everyone. There are other people in the room off camera so Owen is getting the attention he wants. I imagine he's singing Here We Come A Caroling and changed all the plural pronouns to singular for himself. "We's" become "I's". Mon, 02 Jan 2012 08:40:33 -0500 Driving The Devil
Solan is more than happy to drive his master around or do anything really to make him happy. The age difference is very clear in this drawing since Solan is only 25 and Davon is 48. Gosh this looks like a screen capture for a cartoon hehe. When I finished the lighting I was ready to call it quits and was getting sick of it. But then I took a break and was able to go non-stop after that to the end. I got through all six of Kalmah's albums and a few random songs doing this. I've noticed my focus has shifted to Solan lately. He's not one to often demand attention but he's definitely got it from me right now. One of my favorite things to color are the eyes. I always leave them for last because that's putting life into the character. As much as I tired to make Solan's eyes vibrant I think Davon turned out better. I'm very pleased with how he turned out. After not having drawn anything in months I'm impressed I was able to do something at this level. No critic please. This is back when he was still a professor; before he joined Thanatos Industries. He's been called into the Dean's office. Clearly he's done something wrong. He probably blew something up in his class again and he knows he's in trouble. This was supposed to be a simplistic drawing but I'm very happy with how well it turned out. I think it's one of my better pieces. Too a good while to color up. Owen and Cope hate each other, though Owen hates Cope more. But what's odd about this scene is that Cope started it this time. I guess he got sick of being pushed around. This is Owen's lab. Cope barged in and insulted Owen. What did he think would happen after doing that? Owen wasn't going to just let him walk away. Oh and yes, this is before Owen got his fire, or Cope wouldn't be able to yank his hair. Nerd fight! This isn't an accurate representation of what Solan's office looks like. He has many tables and shelves full of statues of the sun gods of the world. He also has many sun symbols and temple paintings on his walls. Three gods were more than enough and I just couldn't draw any more. Solan misses his days as the sun god and keeps around these little memories while he works at Flare Enterprise. There are some subtle hidden things to find in this drawing for those of you familiar with my Thagirion Realm universe. Despite not being able to draw this the way I envisioned it I'm still very proud of how this turned out. No critic please. The fire fight Cope had with Owen did not go well for him. Owen is not an easy adversary to defeat. Cope barely got away with his life but he is badly hurt with burns, a cut leg and a broken arm. His car took some damage as well. He managed to land somewhere safe then collapsed in front of this store on the melting snow. This took place during Christmas time. Luckily for Cope looks like Solan has found him and may lend him a helping hand, for a price of course. This is probably my best drawing so far. I love working with winter scenes. I wanted this to be beautiful yet painful at the same time. The world is cold and harsh but Cope happens to land before a friendly warm spot though the window is closed to him. So close to help after all the pain he's been through. No critic please. Jonathan Cope Solan Rah Owen Marsh snow fallen hurt car death rays Mon, 05 Sep 2011 08:04:33 -0400
