Shadowness - Thagirion I have a wide variety of interests. As far as art I enjoy working on my own characters and their stories. I'm a metal head and love styles like melodi... en Ophidius the Artist
I made this so I could use it as an icon on LiveJournal when I post my art there. This is the full size version. All my characters are some part of me. Usually more than one part of me. Ophidius is my artistic and creative style. Before him none of my characters showed that side of me. So here he is with my tablet and stylus. I'm very much amused that he's ending up with all my equipment. First my camera and now this. Originally I had drawn him with a paint brush and pallet, but then realized that wasn't me. I can't paint and I suck at it. I don't like it either. Ophidius can paint though. He really took off with painting and drawing in 1400's. But as far as representing me I am mainly a digital artist so giving him my tablet was a very good move. I have also considered replacing these things with my awesome mechanical pencil and my clear green clipboard to show my ability to draw. I think he'd also look good with his knives in this pose. I don't know if I'll redraw him two more times for that but it's tempting. So this will be my updated ID here as well. Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:56:38 -0500 Fly with Me
First off this will NEVER happen. This is one of my What IF moments. I have lots of alternate possibilities that never make it into my main story. Cope and Ophidius probably never meet. And if they do it's very brief after Ophidius leaves a board meeting at Thanatos Industries. BUT what if the did meet? Cope would have to get over his fear of Ophidius first. And if he can accept him as a bad guy and over look his dark side I think these two could get along pretty well. They basically have the same personality types. Cope is INTP. Ophidius is ENTP. I imagine the conversation leading up to this scene goes something like this. "WOw you have flying shoes!" Ophidius said staring a Cope's feet. "Uh...yeah." Cope said nervously. "That's COOL. Hey we should go flying sometime!" Ophidius said excited. Cope was relieved that he wasn't ridiculed. "What d-do you u-use to fly?" Cope asked curious. "I'll show you when we get there. Trust me you'll love it!" Ophidius said in a cocky tone. So after the initial shock of "AH, you have wings and powers! What the Hell are you?" That Cope will go through he settles down and the two have a very good time together. I don't know if Slith will tell him he's a demon or Quetzalcoatl or both. They're having a conversation. I'm guessing Ophidius is telling a joke. Both love jokes so Cope would like that. Or he might be telling Cope something he's not supposed to, like the true history of the Earth. They both like to fly though and I figured this would be a nice scene. Also this is one of those rare times I drew my characters enjoying themselves. Usually I find all kinds of fun ways to torture them. This was supposed to be an easy fast drawing. Hehe, well almost. Total time I worked on this was two days. Ophidius's wings slowed everything down big time. So it wasn't so fast. I guess even my simple drawings are complex. The background was easy actually. Originally I had a city in the distance but it just looked bad, so I opted for a full sky instead. Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:53:55 -0500 The Challenge of Four
The man said nothing and with his left hand lifted Ophidius up over his head and held him there a second. Ophidius screamed and then the quiet stranger tossed him across the room back first into a card table. The two men playing when flying across the room as Ophidius crashed through to the floor. Cards and poker chips rained down on him. Malidicus couldn’t help but laugh at his friend. Slith rolled over. He held his chest with his right hand. His ribs really hurt. Breathing was hard. As he propped himself up with his other hand he noticed the cards on the floor and snatched them up. “Hey full house! He was winning.” Ophidius said with a laugh. The big guy came at him again. “Aw, shit!” Slith said as he stood up to once again attempt to fight. That's an excerpt from one of Ophidius's short stories. I had a lot of fun writing this story and originally wanted to make it into a comic book, but that would have taken way too long. So I have just been drawing key scenes from it. George Smith (the human form of Gallemotch) found Ophidius at the saloon and started beating the tar out of him. He caught him completely off guard. Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:51:48 -0500 Blue Tree Budgie
The blue color morph of the Green Tree Budgie is sometimes found in the wild in jungles of south east Asia. The green is more common. These coatls are a mix of Green Tree Python and Budgerigar. Tree budgies actively and passively hunt birds. They wait camouflaged in the foliage for a bird to come by. If the wait becomes to long they will become active and even fly after birds. This isn't the original background I wanted. I wanted it to be completely full of bamboo and look like he was flying through a tunnel. But it was so tedious putting in every tree. I decided to do a "simpler" background to practice. But it was almost as tedious and took way too long. I am very happy with this though. Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:51:47 -0500 Believe
Quetzalcoatl makes it through the storm. He lands on the beach and gently sets Owen down in the sand. The storm is passing and basically over. Owen opens his eyes long enough to see the winged snake speak to him. He thinks he's dying and that this is his last dream. The last thing he sees before he passes out again. Quetzalcoatl wants a new friend and someone to oppose Thagirion with. Those two are already enemies so this would be great. He's very excited about the prospect, but has no clue how nasty Owen is. When Owen does finally come to it's Ophidius he sees. A more believable sight. Though when he tells him he rescued him, he doesn't believe the scrawny man. And he certainly won't like it when he tells him he's a demon. This was fun to color up. So nice I didn't have to do all the complex colors and crazy scale patterns. The quote is from the Savatage song Believe. My story was not inspired by it, but I was thrilled when I listened to it how well it fit my story. All parts of it. I love that songs find me like this. I never set out to make my soundtracks they always find me and seem to just fit perfectly. For an easier more simple drawing I think this turned out really well. Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:50:03 -0500 Summers Rain
Owen was on a ship and acting like himself. Like a jerk. He pissed off some sailors and they tossed him overboard. Owen thought that was the end for sure. His fire would go out and he would not get out of this one. What he did not know was that Ophidius Slith was also on the ship. Ophidius had found out that Owen had become a gifted after attaining his fire. Not only that but Thagirion wants him dead. Those are two good reasons to keep Owen alive and try to become his friend. So Ophidius casually leaps overboard too and takes the form of Quetzalcoatl the demon snake, before he hits the water. He pulls him out, that under bite comes in handy for carrying things like bodies as well as for preening feathers. This looks vicious and yes he's totally capable of eating him. But that's not what he wants. He's being gentle and carries him carefully over the angry north Atlantic waves. Also his python head is nonvenomous. Had he wanted to kill Owen he'd have used one of his other heads. But Quetzalcoatl isn't designed for long distance flights or fighting storms. He has the short rounded wings of a forest bird. Agility and short flights are what he's good at. The nearest land is Iceland and he heads for it hoping he'll make it. Owen's totally passed out. His fire is dangerously low and it's raining. Thu, 23 Oct 2014 21:50:38 -0400 Arramon
This coatl is a mix of Peregrine Falcon and Black Mamba. The fastest snake in the world and the fastest bird in the world make for a deadly coatl that is venomous as well as speedy. Black mambas get their name from the black inside their mouths, but their colors are light brown to olive colored. This particular individual is also a demon character from Thagirion Realm. His name is Arramon and he is Quetzalcoatl's direct and primary servant. The two act more like friends than master and servant though. Arramon admires Quetzalcoatl and believes that he should be the one leading and not Thagirion and Sorath. But unlike Quetzalcoatl, he is very quiet and keeps that to himself. He's shy and would rather run or fly from a fight. But if forced into it he is deadly. Thu, 23 Oct 2014 21:49:03 -0400 Quetzalcoatl
My version of the Aztec feathered serpent. Also known as Kukulkan in Mayan and Qucumatz which means "Quetzal serpent". In the Thagirion Realm he is 3rd in command after Sorath the sun god. He's a power hungry snake demon that is looking to over throw both Sorath and Thagirion to rule. Everyone knows this because he openly states this and opposes Thagirion whenever he can. His left head is based on a mix of an Eastern Rattlesnake and Eyelash Viper, his right head is based on a King Cobra. His central head is an exaggeration of a python yet this is the head I wanted to keep true and familiar to the statues of him. This took me a long time to do and was very hard since I forgot to draw the scales in the viper and had to draw them in digitally. Vipers have keeled scales so that made it even more annoying. I like how they came out but next time I must not forget to draw anything on paper so I save myself a lot of grief. I love his wings and his feathers. His central head is my favorite. All three speak with the same voice, but they take turns with each sentence. His human form his Ophidius Slith. Thu, 23 Oct 2014 21:45:35 -0400 Resplendent Ophidius front
A front view of Ophidius Slith with his wings out. They are very different underneath than on top. Only a little bit of metallic green that's trickled over from the dorsal side. Mostly they are dark grey as are true quetzal wings. I'm very happy with how he turned out. It was fun to try some new coloring techniques on him. I like the expression on him much better on this front view than on his back view. Ophidius is the human form of the demon serpent Quetzalcoatl. Thu, 23 Oct 2014 21:44:29 -0400 Resplendent Ophidius
Ophidius Slith is the human form of the three headed winged snake Quetzalcoatl. When he changes to his true form his wings are the first thing to emerge. He can stop his change part way through and he ends up like this, with lovely metallic green wings. They are the wings of the quetzal bird. He rarely does this since the point of being in human form is to go undetected. But there are those times it is called for. Don't let his angelic look fool you. He's a demon and very evil. I'm very happy with how this turned out. I did take a few liberties by adding a green leading edge to the primaries. Quetzals have all grey flight feathers, but for Ophidius I think this looks really nice on him. He has reason to be proud. Thu, 23 Oct 2014 21:42:41 -0400
