This is PJ one of the music traders that I bump into regularly at the summer festivals around the UK.
This was spontaneous. He was trying to sell a music book to one man while selling a guitar to another guy and trying to keep an eye on a bunch of other people who were all over his stall at Towersey Festival.
He was hung over and knackered as were all the traders and most of the punters.
I forced myself to take some people pictures.

Impressive again... I'm a huge fan of portraits because I can dream of what is going in the head of that person. Too bad I read your comment first :lol ! I should have known better.
Mar 9th, 2012 ReplyAnyway, the first impression before reading was that he was looking at something unbelievable. That is what he delivers with his eyes (at least to me)....
Beautiful focus and amazing light. All the details stand out - wrinkles, beard, eyebrows, hair...
A masterpiece!

A wonderful capture! He looks a little out of it, but I figure it is the hangover.

Wonderful capture.
Aug 4th, 2011 ReplyI like the hard contrast, brings out the age lines and creases, and I would bet each one has an interesting story to tell.

Thanks Jerry. He's a character with many tales to tell he's also a very good musician and singer of traditional songs.

My pleasure, I love images of everyday people, we all have a story to tell, it's written in our skin, this man seems to have many such stories, I would love to sit and listen over a pint.
Aug 5th, 2011 ReplyTaffmeister
Over a pint is when most of his stories are told.

That's great. I love the hard contrasts of his wrinkles. It's a other art of perfection, I think.

I love the expression you've captured on his face. Theres a real sense of exasperation.

Working the festivals is exasperating and exhausting, all that beer and so little time to drink it.
Aug 1st, 2011 ReplyThanks Matt.

Many thanks Meng.
Aug 1st, 2011 ReplyThis was a bit of an experiment. I don't usually photograph people but couldn't resist the expression on PJ's face and processed it trying to emphasize the feeling portrayed in his face>
