Traditional Art
Lowbrow is a widespread populist art movement with origins in the underground comix world, punk music, hot-rod street culture, and other subcultures. Lowbrow art often has a sense of humor - sometimes the humor is gleeful, sometimes impish, and sometimes it is a sarcastic comment. The single most common tactic that Lowbrow artists employ is to poke fun at convention. They know the "rules" of art, and consciously choose not to abide by them. If the test of time for legitimacy (as an artistic movement) means that Lowbrow speaks/spoke, in visual terms, to the millions of us who share a common cultural, symbolic language - albeit a "lower" or "middle" class, media-driven language - then, yes, Lowbrow is here to stay. Anthropologists will probably study Lowbrow in the future, to attempt to figure out late 20th and early 21st century U.S. societal influences.

She’s been doing art ever since she could hold a crayon. Since the age of eight, she has been attending a small local art school in Givatayim, Israel, led by Boris Michri. She enjoys surreal, fantasy, anthropomorphic and animal themed artwork. Her preferred media is traditional, usually watercolors, inks and pencils. She’s inspired primarily by nature, music and biology. Her plans for the future include attending an art academy abroad in the field of illustration. Mar 16th, 2012I am a 39 year old self taught artist from the Netherlands. Most of my work are drawings and sometimes painting or digital photomanipulations. My main interest is in visionary art, surrealism, realism and making "Exquisite Corpse" collaborations. In this stage of my life making art is more than just a pretty image. It's about walking the path to be as pure as one can be in our society, to act from the heart, to life in the present moment when possible, to be still and meditate, to understand nature and to reach the true inner self and life from there. In my drawings i often use symbolism that tell my own story to reach that point of inner self consciousness. While making these drawings i think about life and where i want to be as a free 'spirit'. For me that is what artmaking is all about. Being totally free within my own thinking where i can be as pure as possible and let that be my guideline for my way of living. Thank you for your interest You can find more of my work here: http://mbkkr.deviantart.com/ http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000403023316&sk=photos http://visionaryartgallery.weebly.com/marcel-bakker.html http://mbkkr.carbonmade.com/
