Looking for a way out

Still discovering digital painting... It's really hard. So in order to exercise I copy some "straight" painting I like, like this one which is hugely inspired of the Alan Lee work for the LOTR.
It's no speed painting at all. Maybe 6 or 8 hours of work but my workflow improves. YEY!
When I'll be done training I'll paint the images I have in my head.
As usual, straight forward critics are welcome, just like advices.
