I've wanted to draw the Ophelia-type-of-portrait for quite a long time, but needed an idea of how to make it a little different. As you can see, my latest obsession - the golden flakes - turned out to be the solution, which I truly hope that you will enjoy. The concept is quite ambiguous - it's either about giving in or 'learning to swim'. Obviously from the title, I prefer the latter version. A lion-heart. ~Of Monsters and Men ~ 'King and Lionheart'~ This drawing took a while and it was quite a challenge, both for new objects, like fur, and for new techniques - combining charcoal with graphite (for the first time!), but I'd like to believe it was worth it. I hope you enjoy it, as much as I enjoyed creating it. It's based on a very inspiring photograph by the talented photographer Sam: Materials: *HB and 2B lead mechanical pencils *Charcoal pencil (medium soft) *Slightly grainy watercolour paper, size 37 x 24,5 cm *Kneadable and simple erasers *Cotton wool for some blending Fri, 28 Jun 2013 04:29:24 -0400 Thea
Graphite pencil drawing.
